Ed Ash (Ash Valley Racing) in southern Oregon first told me that GE Silicone 2 was his choice when he was building my 289. Since he is a well respected NASCAR engine builder I took his advice and started using it exclusively. So to do him a favor I called him today to tell him about my bad experience. He said a few weeks ago he happened to drop the pan on a recent build and found the caulk still soft. He now uses an adhesive silicone caulk from Carquest. Why this stuff is still being sold is a mystery. |
