I really appreciate that, Gary. Thank you so much. I owe Ed a call just to touch base, I'm sure he's taking good care of the stuff that arrives. The Kirkham must have been an awesome car, aren't they all? Thanks again, Gary, I hope one day to return this kindness that you've all extended to me to another brother in need.

Brent, I offered those 6040s I had, and then there was nothing. And, Yes I do remember the Vette was sold, but I though you might have a NEW stang.
I had them for him for free.
As it was, I thought there was someone in Troy that was going to pick them up. But, I have not heard.
Let me know what is going on. Not sure I could get to Ed's instantly, but we can work something out, Pentwater is that far.

Dave,
Please accept my apology for not keeping in better touch with you. In speaking with Brent there is some question about the viability of trying to rebuild original FE heads in a cost effective way. I'm trying to determine if I'm better off rebuilding a set of original heads or spending the money on a new set and available the expense (fairly large) of shipping them back and forth, as well as possible valve seats, guides, valves, machining, maganaflux,etc.....
PLEASE know that I am incredibly grateful to you for the generous offer of your cylinder heads. If you are still agreeable I would appreciate it if I could keep that option open while I ask those with far more knowledge than I possess what the best and most cost effective way of getting cylinder heads for this engine would be. It's kind of a curve ball late in the game, I thought the heads I have were ok, only to find out just recently that they aren't suitable for this application. Again, please accept my apology if I didn't communicate effectively with you. Thanks again for you generous offer of the heads. I hope to find out as soon as possible what the guys who actually know what they're doing think I should do. Sorry again, Dave - and thank you so much!

I think we need an inventory - two things NEED and HAVE.
Anyone?
Ed, can you splash light on this?

My good friends at Wilwood http://www.wilwood.com/Index.aspx
have graciously offered to provide the master cylinders and lines for Doug's car.
Do we know the necessary line lengths?
Anybody have a contact at Edelbrock?

WOW! Jason, that's amazing! I don't know what to say. Is there someone there that I can send a message to or call to thank them? As for the lines, I think they'll probably be cut to fit once the masters and reservoir cans are installed. Maybe just rough lengths of line and applicable fittings? DV, what do you think?
I'm amazed at the folks from Wilwood for doing that....wow....thanks so much, Jason. I really appreciate it. I had a less than happy consultation with the Doctors yesterday, this really raised my spirits. Thanks!

WOW! I can't believe you guys, I'm speechless. Believe me, coming from a guy who grew up in New York in a big Italian household, that's saying alot! You guys are incredible, try as I might I will never be able to adequately thank you all. Thank you all SO very much. I'll never forget all the kindness that the Club Cobra family has extended toward me in this very difficult time. Thanks so much to all of you.

As for the project, here's a very quick update. Thanks to the incredible generosity that you've all extended, most of the parts are in place or on the way. The only major part missing is the heads. In speaking with Brent Lykins, who has so generously spent mush time messaging back and forth with me, we've come to the conclusion that to build a bare set of Ford iron heads, or to rebuild a set, would end up with shipping back and forth, all the parts needed, etc, costing just a bit less than buying Edelbrock heads, and the car would be lighter and the reliability of using a new part in such a critical area would be much higher. In short, for such a small cost difference Brent feels, and I agree, that the Edelbrock heads make more sense, so I need to get out there and buy a set of them. That's the last major part needed to get this thing going.
Rick Lake has so generously offered to drive the car in his trailer to Summit Racing in Ohio, where the amazing Ed "DV" Combs will meet him and load the car and parts into his trailer and drive everything up to Pentwater, MI to Ed's place. That's where the "magic" will happen. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the shortblock is good, and the engine turns out to be a good one. Brent has been incredibly generous to offer the labor to build the engine, but I don;t know how I'd get it back and forth to him and back to Ed's place - just the shipping alone would pay for half the price of the heads. I guess I'll play riverboat gambler and throw the dice on the shortblock!
Guys, if I have said it once I have said it a thousand times. I am so incredibly thankful for what you've all dine here. Never in my wildest dreams did something even remotely like this ever even enter my mind. I can't thank you all enough - ever. Hopefully when the car is built and running one day I can have as many as possible in one place for a party and you can all take it for a drive - you each own a piece of this dream becoming a reality. I have seen some incredible Cobras, far nicer cars than this one will ever be. However, I can promise you, none will have the meaning of this one, this car was built by the Club Cobra family, and I am so incredibly grateful to all of you for taking a dream that crashed and taking it airborne once again. In a very dark and troubled time due to my health issues, and all the other things that are going on now, you guys have brought me some hope and happiness, and I can never than you enough for that. Thanks to all of you, this project, once I buy the heads, is about to get moving. Thanks to all of you!
Doug
