Default Nice but overpriced Contemporary on Ebay

Nice car but a little stretched on the price.

$145,000 for a Contemporary? That's the funniest damn thing I've heard in a long time. Don't get me wrong, I love Contemporary's, I've got a decent one myself in the middle of a rebuild / restoration. But $145K........with bolt on wheels that look like they came off of a '66 GTO no less. All I can say is I hope he gets it, I'll finish mine up ASAP and throw it on the market right behind his.

The "1" was a typo, I bet. How is your build going?

No, I think that's a fair $45k car. But, there seems to be a trend in Cobra pricing to move your price higher after it doesn't sell at a a lower price. Now frankly I don't quite understand the rationale behind that, but there's probably some psychological marketing nuance that simply escapes me.

$145K, yeah, and I just saw a flying pig go by. That price is SO far out of reality it's beyond a joke. It's well into the range of the seller being a complete idiot.

You can buy a genuine SHELBY for less! Agreed, drop the "1" and it's in the ball park for price.

A dealer here in Orange County was trying to sell a forced induction Special Edition SPF that had both Roush and Shelby signatures for $125k about a year ago. After reducing the price every month, that same car was recently listed for $65k.

Oh well, all they need is one sucker!

The Cobra was previously owned by Michael Dunn. Rumor has it that he used it to chase Artemus and James.

Well, mine doesn't have knockoffs, but I'll deal at $80K.. Might even consider offers in the $65K range.

What is this guy thinking? It looks like a nice motor, but not that nice!

You see this strategy employed so often. In fact, it's currently being employed by one of our well-known CC members, but I won't mention his name.

My gosh you're right. Now that you've pointed it out to me, it does seem like he has been moving his asking price, as Johnny Horton would sing, "North, to Alaska...."

It's something like a 45% premium over his lowest price. Obviously no rush to sell right now.

I'm still disappointed that no one on this forum remembers Dr. Loveless.
