I wish you good luck with the selling of your vehicle.

That should be it?

You never know what Kirkham Motorsports will pull out of the hat but there's been a few images of an aluminum Daytona floating around that they have. I might wait around a bit to see if they don't start offering one. I assure you that if they do it will be worth the wait.

Good luck with your decision!

Thanks rustyBob... But for reasons of legislation, I would need a car that has been pre-registered somewhere. Otherwise they'll never approve it. Registration of at least 6 months and 6000km (+/-3800 miles). I prefer a registration in the 1960's, that way I can avoid the horrendous road taxes here (7500$ registration, 4500-5000$ yearly road tax)

Big engines are NOT welcome here

You should post an ad on Cobracountry and Cobraregistry "wanted Superformance small block car". You never know who might be thinking about listing or selling their car - but have not taken the move to list it. Small blocks are somewhat misleading today as a lot of the "408 and 427" cars ARE bored and stroked sb 351 motors. I believe that is a pretty common combination with the Superformance Coupe. I did a few laps of the Gainesville Speedway road racing track in one a few years back - very very nice car - and would be my choice if looking for a used Coupe.

you wont find a Daytona Coupe that has been registered as a 60's car, if you do it's either an original or a scam.........

The registration issue depends on the state. In Florida your replica is titled as the year of the car it replicates. My ERA is titled as a "1965 ERA", registration issued in January 2008, with antique plates. So if you would like - you can purchase your Superformance, have it titled in Florida as a 1965 - and if it's new - I volunteer to address that defect by driving it the required number of kilometers so that you can legally import it!! At your service, Rick.

I'm curious to see what the registration papers say about the car in such case... Could anyone show me what they look like?

some states will do that BUT it may not work for Simon........
Simon......on a title of a vehicle it will have the year manufactured (1965)
it will have date first sold (1965)
IF your date first sold is (2001) they may not buy the story that it's a 1965....
these are examples of what some states(and countrys) will not allow..........

Thanks rustyBob... I'll keep an eye out...
My current car is a 5.7, but now 17 years old... So registration is only 100$, but tax will remain at about 3500$ a year till it's 25 y/o

That is, if our lovely government won't impose some extra eco-crap tax to fill the deficit...

Enough of a rant, back on topic

Hey Scott Xlr8or,

Yes we DO have good taste...LOL. I wish the weather here in NY was as nice as yours. Sweet looking car Scott!

Just a quick note about the reg. issue in NY. No scam...mine is registered as a 1965 Ford. Went to DMV and registered it smoothly...I think they were more interested in getting the NY sales tax...YOUCH! Simon, as it is registered as a 1965 there is no formal title document in NY. It is simply a small registration form that is small enough to be kept in the wallet. Upon transfer of ownership, one simply signs it over to the new owner. Ahhh, the good old 1960's!

Also, as mentioned here in the thread, mine is a Roush 427R which, if memory serves, is a bored out 351, not a true big block. I don't know if that would make any difference to the powers that be in Belgium or whether they base their fees on the existing displacement.

Rick

Rick
Road tax here is based on displacement, not on the weight of the engine or something
In holland, I believe they use net vehicle weight.
In the UK, there are (were) only 2 rates: over and under 1.3L engines, IIRC.

The only "good" thing is that we have oldtimer registration, for cars over 25 years old... So for Rick's 427, that would be about 200$ a year instead of 5000$
And even at our silly gas prices, I could run a whole year for 4800$ worth of gas (currently, about 8.00 - 8.50$ a gallon)

Most common cars here are 1.9 or 2.0 turbodiesels (about 550$ a year for tax), diesel is also quite a bit cheaper (5.70$ a gallon), and most of them get 40MPG
BORING
