Now don't all of you speak at once!!!
No really, Terry and I are trying to get a nice group of Cobra owners to have a Fun Rally down to the Keys, or maybe a poker run, to make it enjoyable and lot's of fun. With a winner at the end getting the prize, either all of it, or we can do a 50/50, with the DSCC getting the other half.
Terry has good connections for lodgings and the trip down to Key West is totally awesome on a bike or an open air beast like ours. Can you imagine 20 or 30 Cobras heading South on US 1 thru the Keys, what a sight!!! Talk about drawing some attention too...
Now all we need is some input from you guys so we can come up with a date that we all can live with. We don't have to many choices in Oct. or Nov. due to all the activities going on( Bay Bottom Crawl, Reptile Roundup II, Homestead Speedway, etc.) I don't know about Dec. due to the Holidays, but January looks pretty good. Anything after late Oct. should give us clear weather too.
Well, lets hear from you guys!! Whatta you think?

I'm here Doc
Hey guys,
I ditto what Doc has said.
Let's here from you if you have an interest in this type of run.
Any and all input will be helpful in planning for this event.
I think we should consider doing this run in conjunction with the Bay Bottom Crawl next October. It's too late (Columbus Day weekend) to get a block of rooms for this year's event. I've already tried.
Anyhow, "LET'S HEAR FROM YOU"

Not a Good Idea
MAYBE,
This was not a good idea.
You know, if you don't throw it up against the wall, how do you know if it will stick.
Plan "B":
Lets think small and exculsive!!!!!!!!!!!!
If there are just four or five of us we may be able to get the deluxe accomodations.
What do you think about going down for the Bay Bottom Crawl?
Maybe stay in Marathon?
OR,
I can just leave the Cobra home and bring the boat down and we can check out the "HOOTER SHOW" on the Bay

Hey Doc & Terry,
Guys, I would be there if it wasn't a 2461 mile drive. It
sounds like a terrific idea to me. I am going to be in Key West
september 30th til" the 10th. I'm gonna fish and play golf.
Wht not start another thread on all cobra titled "Calling all
Florida and connecting states Cobras".. And see what kind of resonse you get. I would think for a week end deal these folks would certainly be interested. There ain't nothin" prettier than going over 7 mile bridge in a cobra.

Hey Terry, both plan "B" and plan "C" sound real good to me!!!
Let's see...a boat...Keys.....Columbus Day Regatta, I think plan "C" even looking mighty fine right now. The heck with the Cobra's, where are we going to meet? One more thing Terry, we are leaving the ladies at home, right!

Hersh, Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll try it!
Say, what a bummer we didn't have it for the time that your gonna be there.
You know you might still be able to at least attend a few hours on Friday ( the 10th) of the Bay Bottom Crawl, it's only 17 miles from Key West. Not far at all and this way you can meet some of the FL Cobra guys. See if you can make it Hersh!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy it too.
Thanks Again, have lot's of fun in Key West!!!

Hotel Update
I just got off the phone with the Faro Blanko Resort and Marina in Marathon, and they don't have the house boat accomodations anymore. The other rooms are being renovated - just our luck. Seems like they are going time share and condo. Condos can sleep six - Carol says NO!!!!!! She wants her own bathroom.
They suggested The Holiday Inn at the north end of the Key. Hawks Cay was another thought, but kind of a mad house on the holiday weekends as I recall.
Then I thought about the Cheeca Lodge in Islamorado. The distance works fine for me, but I think this could be alittle short of a run for the Fort lauderdale and Miami guys.
Tell me what y'all think.

Trying to do the keys in season is usually not doable because everthing is booked so far in advance. The last time I was in Key West in the off season and the Crusie ship came in late in the day, we became the only ones in a restaurant for lunch. I never saw it so deserted in Key West. The first thing you have to do is come up with a date. I'm really busy myself right now but if the right dates come up I'll try and join you.

Doc,
Sounds like a great trip! I had planned to go to The Keys at the end of April this year, but events out of my control prevented the 2000 mile round trip. However, the trip to The Keys with my SPF is still very much alive. Even reading about your plans makes me very envious. Oh, well! Maybe next year...

Doc,
You guys nail a date down in between the time I'm there and
I will show up. I can tell you that if I get the chance to drive my Cobra anywhere , then Key West has to be in my top ten. There just isn't too many drives quite like Highway 1.. Man I would love a picture of me and my Cobra parked next to the southern most
tip of the U.S. Or even better!, a picture in front of Sloppy Joes.
Maybe someday I will do it.
Hey Gasholes!!!
R O A D T R I P !!!!!!!

What's Up
I have had no responce to this thread, and am about to abort the idea of the "Keys Cruise" as a group event.
Carol and I will probably still cruise on down to Sugarloaf Key for the Bay Bottom Crawl to just spectate on Oct. 11th, and 12th.
Anyone interested in joining in? Please post here so other members will know that there are people interested.

Hotels
Doc,
I think those "sum bunches" took all of our rooms down at the Hyatt.
I was even thinking of having the boat brought down and stay on it, but the charts say not too much water around the bay side.
I'm assuming that is where they will hold the event.
I'll check with the Palm Beach Mustang Club where yhey are staying.
Hey John Phillips, what about you? I know you said you were heading down. Talk to us.

Terry, I'll still go down with you for the Bay Bottom, but how does November 1st sound for our Poker Run. Can you get us a deal with the Hyatt for that weekend. From what I can see so far, nothing going on that weekend. What do say guys, does Nov. 1st look O.K. for you?

Nov.1st
Doc,
What you smoking in the Cubans? 1st off Nov. 1st is All Saints Day. and Friday Oct. 31st is Halloweenie Day. Can you imagine being in Key West for Halloween?
Actually, I have already looked into that weekend, and EVERYTHING is booked.
I guess they are planning some sort of party.
Oh well, back to the drawing boards.
My thoughts are to start planning for next year and do it up really big. Check out the Bay bottom Crawl this year and see if this is what we really want to do.

No Room at the Inn???
Terry,
Just saw the thread. I never heard of the Bay Bottom Crawl before but it sounds like a good time. Lived in Florida 13 years and never been to the keys. Pam and I are in if we all can find a place to stay. Currently waiting on trailer due early Sept. Will help on those long wet trips. Let me know where to look for rooms.
