DIRTY HARRY -- HAS YOUR WIFE GRADUATED FROM SCHOOL YET? HOW ARE YOU FEELING AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE HOSPITAL? -- WE MISSED YOU LAST YEAR. THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK -- I'M SURE ED WILL PONDER ANY SUGGESTIONS -- BY THE WAY, WHO WAS ARRESTING ALL OF THOSE SPEEDERS WHILE YOU WERE GONE. BILL, ED SAID EARLIER THAT WE WILL HAVE A FLING -- I'LL TELL YA-- I'VE MADE MY RESERVATIONS FOR JUNE, 23,24 AND 25TH -- THAT IS THE SAME WEEKEND AS THE STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL.. MY MONIES ON THOSE DATES. BOOK EARLY AND PLAN AHEAD --- I DON'T THINK I'VE READ A THREAD THAT DOES NOT WANT TO DO LONDON -- THAT'S MY REASONING -- -------------ED HAS ASKED FOR SUGGESTIONS :) |
Enjoyable reading...

Ed & Family
Absolutely, there is interest and demand to attend Fling #5 My wife and I have enjoyed the Flings, the last one was the greatest. If you and your family plan Fling #5 we will be there! And I know many people from the Chicago area are looking foward and planning to go again. We appreciate all you and your family have done! The past format was great, please continue. The food was great, the band was great, the poker run was fun, the parade was fun, the Strawberry Festival was fun, the State Park was fun, the people that attended were great, the town treated us great... If you need anything, please e-mail. The Cooks |
Dirty Harry
Well said.;) |
Great to here from you Dirty Harry, I tried to contact you before the Fling and could not get any information or details, I hope you are doing well.
I hope and pray the Fling continues, my son and I have been attending and we start planning and getting pumped up about the next Fling on the way home everytime we attend. We look forward to it every year and I hope this year isn't any different. I agree keep it simple, and about the cars and the people. We gotta have number five as this will be the first possible chance to potentially have my Cobra done and bring next year (if I can keep on it). I think it may be the only RUCC Cobra I have seen there, so I continue to make my plans and hope and pray that we will all see each other in London next year. Jim |
You see? It has to be about the cars. It's these cars that brings us together as a family. Otherwise we'd be just a big group of Type-A guys highly unlikely to ever show up all at once at a sleepy little Midwestern town, just to see what was new in strawberries.
DV was a visionary creator of an extraordinarily fun event that has continued against the odds of likelihood. We really do take over a small town and do burnouts in front of the Methodist church and go screaming down the street in front of peoples' front porches. How many towns would put up with us? We really do caravan around and have car shows and dinners and poker runs and autocross races. We really have taken over an airport and screamed up and down the runway. We've done some good for Jenny and the others along the way. Now, the event has gotten really big. DV is going to be challenged, geographically, and may need more help than ever before. Any past problems should be regarded as nothing more than suggestions for future events. The product can be refined further with cooperative effort from all us, Type-A though we may be. Let's spend this winter cooperating and communicating like a well-functioning group and reconvene in person for some more self-indulgent fun. Be safe. |
Bill Wells: Lessee , DV, in Cliff's Notes fashion :
1. is there a fling ? 2. where is it ? 3. when is it ? 4. who is the contact. 1: Yes 2: Silly boy! London and parts there of. 3: June 23/25th 4: As it stands right now...me.231-425-6823-- doublevenom@zeronet.net Randy (DV Jr.) has moved out of his apartment, gave up his computer and is just now getting relocated and his computer back. Now...stay tuned. More to come. How's that? Dirty Harry, good to hear from you. Ed "DV" Combs |
BUENO, BUENO,

ALL;
Here is my $17.75 worth-- I know I'm over the limit-- Idea #1 Thursday -- registration -- on your own Friday -- registration -- Poker Run or whatever Evening -- on your own or cookout at motels Saturday Morning/afternoon -- London Evening - cookout at motels/on your own after dinner -- huge run out to Wright Patterson 200 Cobras running down the freeway what a cruise Sunday State Park ----------------------------Fundraising----- -- IF THERE IS NO FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABLILTY -- I'M AGAINST FUNDRAISING. IF WE HAVE THE FINANCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY -- I'M FOR IT. IF ED DOES NOT SET IT UP AS A FUND RAISER -- I SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING; SORT OF A PAY AS YOU GO -- FRIDAYS -- ACTIVITIES-- $20.00 -- DOES NOT INCLUDE FRIDAY NIGHT GET TOGETHER. $25.00 AT REGISTRATION. SATURDAY -- LONDON -- $20.00 -- DOES NOT INCLUDE SATURDAY NIGHT GET TOGETHER. $25.00 AT REGISTRATION. SUNDAY PICNIC --- $20.00 PICNIC LUNCH -- $5.00 EXTRA FOR A BOX LUNCH. $25.00 AT REGISTRATION -- NO BOX LUNCH. TOTAL COST, PER CAR IS $70.00, IF 200 COBRAS SHOW UP AND PAY THE $70.00 THAT'S $14,000.00 --- ED I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE COST, OF MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE -- OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD, WHAT EVER MONEY IS LEFT OVER, IT YOURS AND YOUR FAMILIES. THIS IS FOR ALL OF THE HARD WORK -- THE COORDINATION OF THE EVENT AND DEALING WITH THE STRESS. IF IT COMES UP SHORT, BY THAT I MEAN, MORE THEN THE $14,000.00 - ATTENDEES MUST MAKE UP THE DIFFERENCE. NO ONE SHOULD EVEN THINK TWICE -- IF THEY DO, TELL THEM TO GO HOME. I KNOW THIS IS PROBABLY AN OVER SIMPLIFICATION, I ADMIT, I PROBABLY HAVE JUST TOUCHED THE SURFACE OF ISSUES. I THINK THIS IS TAKING IT BACK TO THE BASICS, AND KISS. WHEN REGISTERING PEOPLE WILL NEED TO INDICATE WHICH EVENTS THEY WANT TO ATTEND AND ENCLOSE A CHECK. THIS WOULD ALSO HELP WITH PLANNING THE EVENTS. MIKE |
Mike,
For my 2 cents, I'd agree - Flat fee for registration to cover fixed costs such as registration materials, security, etc., and a pay per event for everything else. Keep the charity association, but lef CF administer it, with a liason to the Fling to coordinate T-shirt logos, raffle tickets, etc. By the way, yellow cars should be $5 more in the registration fee than something classy like candy apple red! - Dan |
Agreed on the whole yellow car costing more thing.
PJSNAK if you are around reading any of this, yellow cobras with... "JP COBRA" ...license plates cost $10 extra. $5 goes to yellow car fund, $5 goes to me. :) |
I'm not comin' if we don't have cookies. :-)
I like the pay as you go idea too. I'm Dave Semko, and I approved this message. |
Kiss my yellow cars' a$$. Red cars have never voted for anything postive. Run some sleezy campaigns.
The Klayfish National Party is not responsible for the contents of this posting. I doubt Ed would allow the Fling without the cookies. Playing devils advocate, the one issue I'd see with pay as you go is that it could make it a little more complicated for the organizers. Someone would have to collect money at each days' event, and then how would they know who has and hasn't paid? I'm not against this idea, just something to think about. Steve |
