Fling
Well it was a pleasure after being away from the forum for 5 days to see that it had turned positive and constructive and supportive. ;)
Although I am new to your family, I look forward to the first of hopefully many more Fun times at the Fling. There have been a lot of emotions expressed here and Ed ( whom I haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting) has been portrayed as somewhere between God like and Jesse James %/ . I too became irritated at the delay in response from Ed and in frustration made a post that after I slept on it I determined it to be unfair and deleted it the next day. SO, to Ed I publicly apologize to you for my comments in that post. I too have been on the sidelines, and after this post will go back there, and I suggest that others who have nothing constructive to offer do the same, It's safer out here:D Before I go and pour me some Glenlivet, Ed, If there is any way I can assist you , let me know, Otherwise I'll be there in June with bells and whistles. To all have a great day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,now GET BACK TO WORK:3DSMILE: |
First off I gave up work almost 8 years ago and there’s not enough money around to get me back into working. Secondly what is a Forum for if not to BS with others from all parts of the country by typing away? I really find it funny that at FFCOBRA this same thread died the same day it was posted and at CLUBCOBRA two weeks later and some 22 pages later we are still having fun. See you all in JUNE.

OK, back on topic. I just made my reservations at the Hampton. They knew it was for the fling, so obviously they are getting a lot of calls. Get those reservations in if you have a preference for a hotel.
Also, I would like to suggest that for those of us with kids, we make a side outing to COSI. We went there last year before the picnic while everyone was at the poker run. My son, who is 5, enjoyed it, and I think it is one of the nicer, cleaner children's museums around. It was also not extremely crowded. We have a nice Childrens museum in Chicago, but this one has alot of space and some nice exhibits. Do not know about parking the snakes over there, but if you are travelling with children, you most likely have a support vehicle anyways. If you have a local museum and plan on going to COSI, you might want to look into a membership at your local museum. With our membership, we received free admission to COSI. Just a thought. |
OK--- KEEP IT SIMPLE -- YOU SAY!
I MUST ADMIT I'VE NEVER TRIED RAKI-- HOWEVER, FROM THE FEEDBACK, I'M OBVIOUSLY MISSING SOMETHING, SO I WILL END MY ABSTINENCE AT THE FLING-- I WILL MAKE MY LIFE LESS COMPLICATED -- I WILL PICK UP A BOTTLE OF RAKI -- I WILL INVITE YOU ALL TO MY CAMPFIRE (STEVE'S GRILL) -- AND WE CAN MAKE A TOAST TO A WONDERFUL EVENT, IN FRIENDSHIP. AND AS RICK ASKED-- IS IT JUNE YET--??? MIKE |

  Did I miss something? Mike you better be bringin some single malt scotch if you are having a party at MY Grill:3DSMILE: Crap, couldn't stay on the sidelines even for one afternoon:MECOOL: |
Jack,
Look how close my post count is to 1,000. As I approach such a monumental milestone, I am indeed working on building my post count. As a matter of fact, all future long-winded posts from me will be split into 3-4 smaller posts. Hey . . . whatever it takes! |
I am not bringing any liquor to any grill. See you all have favorites. I can not afford to buy all of your favorites. So I will just come to your fire and sample your favorites. Kind of a liquor tour if you will. :D ;) Of course, come to mine and sample! To bad I am not going to Mexico until after the Fling.
This will be my fourth Fling. I have yet to be offered Raki. Many other fine, fine liquors (what was that MOST excellent tequila?) , but not Raki. It doesn't taste like black licorice does it? Can't stand black licorice. As for newer folks or other forums........ some very long history between some of the people here. Some going way back to before this place existed. And much longer than my sorry a$$. Can you tell it is a beautiful day, the Cobra is out in the attached garage and I am stuck at work? Rick |

RICK - - -
CONSIDER YOURSELF AS BEING INVITED TO THE "TENT OF INCREDIBLE SALUBRIOUS LIBATION". COME DRINK RAKI WITH US. AS TO "WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE???" SORT OF LIKE A MIXTURE OF 50% LOW GRADE AVIATION FUEL AND 50% RONSONAL LIGHTER FLUID - - WITH A GRAPE THROWN IN. ACTUALLY IT TASTES TERRIBLE - - BUT - - HELL, IT IS A TRADITION. LOOK FORWARD TO "POPING A CORK" WITH YOU. Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY. BLACKJACK |
Thanks Jack. You can always count on the Capital area guys. By the way, I hear there is a new young thing in your life. Any recommendation on Viagra stocks?;)
Not even November and I can't wait! Rick |
Damn Blackjack -- I invited you to my tent -- now I feel left out -- what does Rick have that I don't -- he doesn't even have a stripe on his COBRA --
Steve, I'll even bring a bottle of "Cutty Shark" Boy! that's the best scotch I ever tasted. CobraDan- I think most of my nasal membranes are gone-- "I went to Kent State" I think I'll get to meet you at the Florida Fling in Ocala -- Mike |

 BTW this RAKI which I've never tasted sounds like Italian Grappa. One of my wife's uncles, gave us a bottle for our wedding 32 years ago, It's only had two sips outa the bottle, ( It burns the lips and dehyrdrates your eyeballs on the spot), but the dang thing now is only about half full. It has evaporated thru the cork. I'll bring it down, if noone can drink it, I'll use it as Octane Booster:3DSMILE: |

I'M A SIMPLE TYPE OF GUY--I DRINK STRAIGHT DRAFT BEER -- HOWEVER, I CAN DRINK ONE IN A BOTTLE-- MIKE |

Mike,
I have pictures of an empty seat at a table at KC's in Lexington, OH . . . An empty seat behind a full beer. I'm not sure if Mike can really put back any beers, be them from a tap or from a bottle... :) Mike, should I post pictures??? :D |
