If I already put in $0.03 and I add this $0.02, does that mean I put in $0.05??? LOL JP, what am I in for?

Or, do I need to put in $17.75 as Mike put in? LOL

June is good!
I know this is the time for many of us who deal with winter to get readi for it, but if there is something we can help with in the prep, I would hope we would be asked.

I like the $100.00 one time fee deal. Going off a previous post, five cards could be used for each car, one for each event.

It's just a thought.

This is my $0.02 or $0.05 or $17.75, Oh he!! I don't care. hehehe

rdorman 10-25-2004 05:58 AM

Is it June yet?

STANDARD OPS

HEY PAUL.

I AGREE 100%. IT'S AN OLD TOOL USED BY INTEROGATORS / INTERVIEWERS FOR DECADES.

GET THE SUBJECT (SUSPECT) TALKING AND PUT HIM (HER) IN A POSITION TO CRITIQUE SOMETHING OR SOMEONES ACTIONS AND INVARIABLY THEY WILL TELL YOU (WITHOUT REALIZING IT) WHAT THEY WOULD HAVE DONE (OR HAD DONE) IN THAT SITUATION.

EVER WONDER WHY INVESTIGATORS ALWAYS ASK IF A SUBJECT IS WILLING TO TAKE A POLYGRAPH?? THEN DON'T DO IT?? WE DON'T CARE ABOUT THE POLYGRAPH ONE WAY OR ANOTHER - - THERE ARE WAY TO MANY MEANS OF DETECTING DECEPTION AND AQUIRING INFORMATION DURING NORMAL CONVERSATION IN AN INTERVIEW THAT ARE FAR MORE ACCURATE THAN A P.G.

THE TOUGH PART ABOUT THE TECHNIQUES IS "TURNING THEM OFF" AT THE END OF THE DAY.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY.

I am not a psychologist, but I have been teaching high school for over 20 years and, in that time, I have made some observations. The accuser usually makes these assumptions of others based on the way that they would act themselves in a given situation. So, when you say things about others, you are broadcasting to the world ......
Enough said !!!!

Gosh Paul, what a great lesson on life.... Any more "plums of wisdom" you want to pass on?
I'm still trying to decide if your posting is one step above or one step below the ever popular "sticks and stones".

I'm not a psychologist but I did make some observations and I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night...

Enough said?

PatBuckley 10-25-2004 07:42 AM

LOL.

So that make the average cop either naive or crooked...

For cryin out loud.

20 plus pages? Anybody got any idea where this is going?

It's cold here too, but that hasn't stopped us from driving the car.

I suppose I have it all wrong.

Hiya, DV. Cheering you with a Bombay Sapphire and Tonic.

Cold is cold. What can I say?

Mike Braatz 10-25-2004 10:05 AM

All;

Where is this thread going, asks Turnpinkboy, a good question, well, I think we are killing time waiting for Ed to give us some feedback.

The issues are on the table -- they have been chewed on, digested and spit out. We have expressed our opinions, some constructive, some distructive. We've challenged each other and Ed to respond to a number of excellent questions and, at this point, some of them have been answered, some not.

I think it's the anticipation that drives me goofy.

But, we do know, at this point;
1) Ed is hosting or overseeing the fling
2) The dates of the fling
3) The location

Now we wait -- As Carly Simon -- sang "Antisipation is making crazy"

OK, then; What More Is Needed?

Let it go. Enjoy, as fully as you possibly can, what you've been given.

Roger

klayfish 10-25-2004 10:28 AM

Amen, Roger. Now go grab another Bombay Sapphire and tonic and get back to work!!

Steve

Mike Braatz 10-25-2004 10:42 AM

Let what go??

Ed said he wants to respond to the ideas and thoughts expressed earlier--- that's all -- this is not a negative but only an observation -- I get excited waiting -- that's all ---

The use of the words "Bombay" and "Sapphire" is unnecessary. Simply saying "Sapphire" is enough. Any gin drinker worth their salt will know that you are referring to the best gin going:3DSMILE:

turnpike boy 10-25-2004 10:55 AM

It's easy, Mike....

...let go of the bigger/better/more/syndrome. All the suggestions are nice, but it's the PEOPLE who make it what it is.

OK, I'll yield...let's see a show of hands....Who DIDN'T have serious fun in the parking lots of the hotels at night? Who DIDN'T have fun checking out all the hardware in downtown London? Who DIDN'T enjoy the sun in the park (well, we didn't, since my wife was in the hospital by then..)?

Frankly, I wish DV And Co. were more present at the Fling, able to enjoy the work they had put into it, rather than sweating out each event and detail. Dammit - this is supposed to be deviant (?) adult fun, not a contest to see how much can be crammed in a couple days.

Gin & Tonics. Sun. Silliness. Great hardware. Your own town for a day. And a boatload of people who really, really like the same thing you do.

Run what ya got....there's plenty there.

turnpike boy 10-25-2004 10:58 AM

Yeah man....

...right witcha, Chappy.;)

See you in London, for shore. Look for me at the Hampton - I'll have the trailer with the 55 gal. drum of Bombay in it.

MidOHasp 10-25-2004 11:03 AM

Jeez, Roger...

1: The fact that that you are "cheering" Ed on indicates much of what is wrong with this thread - cheering sections (on both/all sides of the issue). When I felt like I was being cheered on for whatever ulterior motives some thought I had was the instant I removed myself from this discussion as an "active" participant in it. The idea that there are cheering sections here, no matter who one may be cheering for, seems to indicate that this has become a largely PERSONAL discussion. Like I said, that was when I stepped off to the sideline. Might I suggest those of you that have become personally wrapped up in this do the same. The view is better.

2: Roger, I'm pretty sure "Enjoy...what you've been given" are words that would never be uttered out of Ed's mouth. Speaking on behalf of others, or just speaking out like that, has been a major cause of this thread going to hell. I said plenty, pages ago, but it also didn't help when some implied that I wanted to run the Spring Fling. Gimme a break!

Anyways, this post is sure not intended as a flame. Just as a suggestion. Trust me here in saying that if you're not real careful what you say around here, you're probably going to piss off a decent sized group of people. I would know.

My suggestion to all, from personal experience right here in this very thread, is to not make this so damned personal. I think if YOU'VE been attacked, it's fair for you to fight back. But, there seems to be a lot of "fighting on behalf of..." going on that isn't getting anyone anywhere. Maybe I'm wrong, and I'm sure not telling anyone to stop it.......just making an observation from the sideline. :)

You'd get a BIG second from me on that one. They work to hard. Not enough fun and 'down' time for them.

Point taken, J.P.

All too easy to step on fingers in here.

I knew better than to step into this.

I am loathe to put word into ANYbody's mouth - especially including DV. And shame on me for utterly enjoying the Fling, or the company of the individuals who have made it occur.

Hard to believe anyone could take any of this personally. Oh, well.

Roger

rdorman 10-25-2004 11:24 AM

I think it is Miller time again. Or Bombay, raki, tequela etc.

Remember, the imortal words of Jamo (NO, not a$$olutely), ".. the Fling heals all."

After the evening Friday June 24th (or in my case, Thursday June 23rd), none of us will remember a thing.
