Vacation time...
I'll be raisin' heck for the next 10 days. If I can find a wireless hot-spot, I'll drop in here occasionally. Any (panic) problems will have to be resolved by the Boys In The Shop.
Have Fun!

I convinced Bob to give up his search for Deliverance, so this year he took my advice: Grand Cayman Islands Luxury Hotel: The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman Luxury Resort

Don't worry Bob, our boy will answer all questions directed to you-just like he does when you're here...

I slipped them all a couple of bucks to look the other way. But while I've got you here, what's your preference for gasket choice between my aluminum carb inlet fitting and the Holley float bowl considering today's ethanol blends. In my box of Holley parts I have a pristine "old fashioned" inlet gasket that looks like it could be made of the asbestos stuff that we used as kids; or 2) The newer nylon one they offer; or 3) The steel one they offer. The fitting is the Russel 640750 and it's the threaded male end that has the weeping, not the gasketless blue AN fitting. Any preference?

He-Man steel hardline, brass fittings, OE steel fuel log and neoprene hose on barbs with Holley brass crush washers-like The Almighty intended.
No Mary pretty blue and red bobbins...

<sigh>... from the five minute search I did earlier today, I didn't come across brass, copper, or anything else other than steel and nylon. I just happen to have the old style saved for the last 40 years. I take it then you would opt for the 40 year old asbestosy-looking one over the new style nylon or steel, correct? And no, I'm not going to re-do my hoses, although I might consider dispensing with the blue and red. I got rid of them on my remote oil filter because they did bug me.

As usual, Chas is right. What self-respecting ERA owner wouldn't?
For all those tools, testing equipment and technical jargon that you spew, er, employ, I mean, come on now. Get with the program.
I can't do it, but the folks who dropped my engine and tranny in, knew WTH they were doing. I didn't even have to ask. As Chas said, it's the way ___________________ (fill in the blank with your deity) intended.

Seriously pal- take the time to source, bend and plumb hard line. Ain't hard for a clever lad of your eminence, won't hurt your manicure, and it's bulletproof. That snap above was taken in '03 when I put the heads on and all the fuel plumbing was already on since '92. That 40 year old stuff works but I used brass crush. Plus it feeds 550 easily.
You've already got that erection Bob made out of your Bad Boy T'pan. Get with the function and look of purpose-made line.
More rewarding than your meditation and yoga exercises. Stop blowing out your bleeds every week and do something meaningful.
Knockers could do it easily, but I think he's already plumbed right...

Well, I'll think about it. The braided lines look better to my eye, but I will think more about it. Does the new owner participate on this forum?

Well, I've been told by really smart people at DuPont that nylon does indeed seal better. Oh Chas, you might enjoy this article: Nylon Under the Hood

Patrick .... Nylon seals ok if there are irregular surfaces , nicks etc ..... for a while . As long as you don`t undo the connection and then reuse the Nylon "0" ring/flat seal . It doesn`t have as much memory as some other materials and tends to retain the "pattern" of the surface it was mated to . A lot of the race teams I am familiar with use both Nylon and fiber , but they also use a seal only once .... as seal manufacturers recommend !
One of the Divisions of the company I worked for was Parker Seal in Salt Lake City ..... probably one of the largest makers of seals in the world , and I worked with applications engineers there more than once on various projects . Yes , Nylon will work , but don`t try to reuse it .... or any other gasket/"O" ring . You might get away with it once or twice , but it will eventually leak .
BTW , my experience comes from the field and racetrack ... not an article .

Yes, that was mentioned by the folks I spoke with. I should have included it in my post, so I'm glad you did. Thanks.

The only thing I learned from his post is that he did not know the answer to the question I posed, but just didn't want to come out and say he didn't.
