Kind of reminds me of racing bicycles. Saving a gram here & there to get that magic number. I bet you'll feel it in the spirited handling car. & I know you'll feel the difference the Webers make! Even before I began jetting mine I could feel the difference.

Yea - I am really getting excited. I will weigh it again once the rear is back in. I have a feeling it is going to be close to 289 weight. I geared it with 3.73. That puts the top of 4th around 148 at 7k and a 700 rpm drop into 5th - still above 350 lbs trq.

These are the heavy duty output shafts from Crosthwaite & Gardiner. They run them in race cars including Cobras. The Outer housings are aluminum.

Did I mention that I built my one car in the 90s on bathroom scales? And once I realized that I was under 2.200 lbs (1.000 kg), I knew the car would be better in any discipline. That was long before I even started the engine... :-)

Nice - that's about half the weight of my ERA's Jag rear. ERA should consider that as an option - although it would be a pricey one I'm sure.

Yes a bit expensive, but in line with the cost of the engine and transmission.

This was a sizable undertaking. Sourcing everything and having it built took a lot of time. It is really nice to finally have it done and back in the car.

We are going to reassemble the GEN1 rear assembly and put it on the market. It is complete minus the shocks - Salty air and sitting does not keep a Spax happy.

Can any of you suggest a realistic value for the GEN 1 assy?

7500 miles, 6 pin, inboard brakes, no shocks.

I think Grubby (John) sold one out of his ERA 3 or 4 years ago and installed the ERA rear. I don't know how to search the For Sale forum but you might PM him and see if he will tell you what he got for it.

I did sell an ERA rear about 4 years ago. It was really hard to sell. Likely due to the very limited number of new ERAs each year.

It only had 800 miles and looked new. It finally sold for about $1500, complete - less the 6 pin hubs. A pair of rear six pin hubs is roughly $1000 from ERA. So the net was about $2500. My memory may be slightly off, but I remember thinking the buyer got a steal.

I hear you on the value, but want to price it realistically. I would rather someone have it, than store it. Your net is about where I thought it would be with shocks.
