Yea, I am socializing the idea of a 427 Shelby block based build. I was just on the phone with an engine builder who said it basically takes $20 to start. He also said, Shelby is "plum out" of Aluminum blocks, because they lost their foundry....he said they are contemplating outsourcing to Korea. I don't know how true that is, but most of the other "American Made" stuff is made there, soooo that wouldn't be a shocker.

Anyway, 20k seems low after looking at Roush.

390 is looking better every day......but hen again, it is an ERA....decisions..decisions.

IMHO your ERA needs to have a 427 or 428! I think Patrick and others would agree. And not a Rousch.
I will keep my radar on for any good blocks. They pop up all the time.
Good luck on this journey. It's all part of the experience!

428 Iron Blocks are out there, just place a WTB on 332-428 Ford FE Engine Forum but only buy from one of the regulars.

For example, this 427 block: FordFE.com Classifieds: x4rdtech and I would be quite comfortable buying a block from Bobby Spears sight unseen.

Yes, I agree, 427 is the "goal". I was using Roush as an example of price. For a while, I was thinking of a 427 Chevy......but then I woke up.

Yes Patrick, but forums are either FANTASTIC or CATASTROPHIC. But, I have been trolling there for a while.

What's the going price for a 428 IB?

Under two grand for something that you can trust and from somebody you can trust. This is an outlier: 1968 1969 Ford 428CJ Engine Block Mustang Cougar Torino Ranchero | eBay
