Patrick, if you're looking for a secure way to tow the car onto a tow truck, take a look at the photos below. I use two 6' straps with one end of each secured to an A arm. From there it's a straight shot out each side of the oil cooler so no stress on the body.

Well that is quite clever. That would clearly pass the crane test.

ERAs are built strong. There's clearly one way to prove it...."The crane test."
Keep a camera on hand. I look forward to seeing the results
Stay safe!

As I have said in another post, and Glen confirmed, horizontal pull on one jack post will work without deflection to get your car towed up onto a tow truck, if the bolts are of sufficient strength and the quick jack mount is made of sufficient strength steel and welded well. Done it over a 100 times to get the race car on and off the trailer with no deflection in the mount.
Patrick, I did think that your wrapped strap was a good idea until others pointed out the bending force that would pull the quick jacks together.

Actually, I plan on fabbing up a beautiful looking folding tow hook on the front quick jack, with the tow hook receiver mounted behind the quick jack itself, the quick jack threaded rods and bolts all upgraded to Grade 8, and a new 5/8" hole going through the middle of the quick jack in to the receiver, so the tension from the hook is straight on the bolts and threads and nothing is in shear. The hook unscrews and can be moved from front to rear. But it doesn't hurt to work the crowd up every once and a while. This is what it will look like:

Purely from a spectator enjoyment perspective, I, and I think others, would definitely prefer the crane test on the sling/straps.
Destructive testing is just so much fun!
Roll on!
I have a beer ready, so "cheers"!

I would have cheated by wedging a 2'x4' between the two quick jacks. Then, if Bob was right and those threaded rods are really B7 Alloy, then I'm winning that crane bet every time.

O ye of little faith. And on Good Friday of all days.
Here are some progress pics. As you can see, I drilled the hole and have it put together. Here's how it will appear after I mount it back on the car. I still have to cut, debur and chamfer that hefty bolt that is about an inch too long. Remember, it just unscrews, so it's there when you want it and gone when you don't. The trick to getting that hole cut perfectly was to use a cobalt bit and cutting fluid. Shortening the Grade 8 bolt shouldn't take long, but that can wait 'til tomorrow.

Looking nice Patrick. You've got thinking about moving from the straps to the eyes. I will have to see how that would work with the FIA having the quick jacks reversed. Want to make sure that the heavy metal eye would not be able to hit the bodywork and cause damage, as mine have to be on both ends at all times.

If you have 3/4" between the back of the quick jack and the body of the car then you have enough room for the Grade 8 Flange Bolt and two threads coming out from it. Plus, when you don't want to see it you just unscrew it and stick in this nice rubber plug to make the hole invisible.
