Dare I sculpt?

Hi Bob,
I'd doing the body work on my car and have a question about the door openings. The finished car is my buddy Jerry's, see how his sort of has a consistent width?

If I want to get from mine to his, it looks like I'd need to cut back a little on the left near the bend, is this okay structurally? And I'd need to add some to the right, do I need to do that in glass or can I just build it up out of bondo? I realize you probably aren't a paint guy but was concerned that I would do something cute and have it crack or something later.

Chuck,

I hear that there's some new meds for this type of obsessive behavior.

I would extend the edge with a little glass before adding filler. It would be embarrassing if the corner fell off when someone accidentally hit it.

Narrowing it a bit shouldn't present a problem.

I know it's a long shot(I'm kinda quirky like that

) but a section on bodywork pointers for your cars on the ERA site would be a big help. Could be dreaming?

So far my body work has been pretty straight forward but every now & then I get to a point where I stop & wonder what would be the best way approach to a piece that I'm working on or wonder how it should be finished. I find my self at that point going through many pictures on the internet trying to find how it should look or trying to get good answers through club cobra. Not a major pain but time consuming at times for those of us who don't have access to a good model to study

But no one in their right mind would paint their own car! In their garage no less! Just plain crazy

I don't have the room in my garage to get around the car with a paint gun or I would! I plan to just do the bodywork, possibly primer it & have it ready to go for the paint shop. Hopefully this way I can save some dough & get a nice paint job to boot.
