This is what I mean about locking your car...
On the few times that my car may need "extra security," I run these cables through the wheels and frame and loop it around a telephone pole or the like. I know you're concerned about getting through inspection, but a QR steering column is great security as well. You just pull the wheel and take it in the restaurant with you (seriously).

Ray, how close are you to ERA? Jim's suggestion is the best if you're within a reasonable distance. If not, then enlist Bob P. early on to engage in deception, misdirection, and trickery in order to pass inspection.

Jim, patrickt - I was going to have a chat with Peter on this to find out what's involved in either covering it, or how hard it would be to change out.
My car made it back to ERA today from Tony despite all the rain.
