Default 5-pin KO wheels

I notice that Vintage lists two different backspacing options on their 5-pin wheels - 3.6" and 4". I found a reference of 3.5" backspace on the Trigo wheels so I'm assuming about 3-1/2 inches is what I need to work with the ERA suspension and adaptor knockoffs? The ERA manual is pretty clear on recommended backspacing for the 6-pin drive wheels but not on the 5-pin.

Since I'm building a street car version I don't really need 9-1/2 inch wheels in the rear (I know - I should be looking for some Sunburst wheels). I don't see any mention of either Trigo or Vintage making the SC wheel in something like a 8-1/2 inch for a bit less full-tire look in the rear. Has anyone else seen them produce something like this? Just thinking.

Thanks

Dan

As far as I know, all the S/C-type wheels were 7.5" and 9.5" wide. The backspacing of the 5-pin wheels is the same as the 6-pins when you include the thickness of the adapter. Bob Lacy at Vintage is familiar with our specs.

When we use the Sunburst wheels (all 7.5" wide) in the back, we use extra-long control arms to widen the rear track for a better look. So, you must commit to your wheel width and offset if/when we build your rear suspension.

Bob - I guess the same would be true for the rear control arms if 7.5 inch S/C type wheels are used all around? I think they are all the same general backspace dimensions. Sounds like I need to figure this out quickly.

Can I also safely assume this (7.5 inch wheels in back) would provide much more room in the wheel wells for undercar exhaust?

The room for the exhaust pipes goes from tight to loosy-goosey, since you gain about 1.5" (depending on your tire width).
