Tom,

The pics help a bunch. I assume that having a vertical slit at both ends allows for access for installing the screw near the door hinges that holds that end of the cable.

To bad EM didn't use the normal door hardware. Having the cord reminds me of my Dad's 59 MGA, which had the cord also.
