Straight water will cool better than anti-freeze.

x2 on pure distilled water ... most racing organizations will not allow antifreeze . It makes things real exciting if you hit a patch of it on the track . Try running distilled water and water wetter with the water pump lube in it .
Makes it a lot easier to clean up if you have to change a hose of spring a leak . |

Actually a 50/50 mix of distrilled water and antifreeze with some water wetter will cool much better than straight water or distilled water...

Not exactly true. Pure water carries and transfers heat energy better than a 50/50 mix. But the mix has a higher boiling point under pressure, and a lower freezing point.

The heat rejection factor of water being 1.0 pure antifreeze has a .8 heat rejection factor . Any addition of antifreeze to water porportionately reduces the mix's heat rejection capabilities. Pump lubrication, rust inhibitors, elevated boiling points and lowered freezing points are the only advantages of a glycol/water mix.

That's what Water Wetter is for. I run distilled water with Water Wetter.

Well hopefully the freezing weather is over here in Oregon for the time being. It better be, I just dumped the antifreeze solution I've been running through the winter and changed out to water and wetter for the summer.
I can actually SEE the difference in temperatures running water vs antifreeze mix. Water alone is better.

Agreed , distilled or highly filtered water with some AF and WW.
75% water,22% AF, 3% ww.
Feel blessed in oregon for the good water, Tap water in California --isn't .
Plus modern green antifreeze is scary ! It just doesn't taste the same as in the 1980's.

My car runs much cooler with less than without AF. I had to dump my AF for track day and since that time the Cobra has never come close to over heating. My only concern is engine block corrosion etc. I use WW and am investigating quality anti-corrosion additives. Any feedback on quallity corrosion inhibiters is appreciated.

if your car is exposed to freezing temps. and you dont want to drain your rad. every year then run a mix that will keep your coolant from turning to ice.....and yes it will crack your block....if your not around freezing temps. then run distilled water and water wetter and a good corosion inhibitor like super anti-rust....
80% water 15% ww and 5% anti rust that should keep your cooling system operating at its best along with a coolant recovery tank.
