Here is a shot of my driveway. It's the dirt road in the lower left corner.

It's a take from an old Oldsmobile commercial. I believe he is just saying that the parts available today are so much better than the original that the original FE are not the same as what you can build today.

I guarantee no offense was intended. Not that it is my place to be saying any of this, but I did it anyway.

I feel all warm and fuzzy now! I thought about it a bit and thought , my dad used to drive a '32 Buick! Oh wait! He's talking about me! Must be a generation thing. When your close to 60, 40 ain't that old.

You must be too young to remember Oldsmobile commercials. No offense was intended I'm sure - just a cliche to illustrate the big advances in FE parts in recent years. Keith built my engine with a set of old steel hi po heads - my decision based on cost and that I was going for old-school, restroration appearance and not all out horsepower. It's a street roadster replica and I'm not going to track the car. I figure 470 hp and 530 ft lbs of torque will get me in all the trouble I need at cruise night. If your after high to max power then you obviously can't beat aluminum and need to go that way. That wasn't my ultimate approach - to each their own.

I must be too old to remember the commercials! I do remember the one where the guy flies into the convertible. I even got the jingle for the old Ellis Brooks commercial from the SF Bay Area.

Well that's possible too - I'm about to hit 60 any day now and I forget more of what I knew every day.

I look at something like that and would be afraid of it making the big noise that everyone is so afraid of. I couldn't imagine paying that much for a motor and having it grenade and have to do it all over again. Actually for my purposes , I couldn't justify paying that much for a motor.
