Some boats used twin engines, and one would be mounted backwards.To determine if the engine you located is one of those, the distributor would be a good starting point, since it determines if all the internals rotate in the opposite direction from standard. Unless you plan to drive more in reverse than forward.

Now Ned, think that over again. REVERSE rotation, not mounted. I've yet to see a Chris Craft Cabin Cruiser with a prop in the back, and one amidship. Unless you guys in Cali. do something different !
