I'd say it was worn .009. Nobody makes a piston .005 over stock.

I stand corrected, back in the day the Ford & TRW pistons all made by TRW for the 427 came standard and .003" over, not .005" over, I am getting old my memory is off by .002".


But then you could be right about the normal wear and add a couple of re-ringings and honing could account for .009" over, probably was noisy when cold.

According to my limited knowledge and all of my books, I can't find that crank. So based on what your research has told you, sounds like a very nice piece.! Looks great!

Is that a tunnel port head sitting on the left side?
