Well, first start with the basics.,,,,
Look for C_-AE-_ numbers on the block near the oil filter.
Then, look for something similar on the heads and intake.
Last, post pics of all of that, including pics of the sides of the block just above the pan rail.
Lots of folks here that can narrow down what you have with that kind of info!

Default good advice

Thanks for the advice. It may take a while the engine is in Hollywood and I'm in San Diego. My Mother In-law may not up to the task of taking the pics. I can ask and see if she can do it. I know it's a 1964 crate engine. I will have to find out just where he got it from. There are stories but I will have to verify.
I know it's all original with iron heads, block and dual 4 brl intake. The only thing that he ever had to do was replace the head gasket.

Thanks

She can't figure out how to take a picture with her phone so I have serous doubts that this would help.

I have the number for the head C4AEH30801 and intake C3AE-9425-K
I have to go look at the block. I know it's 1964 (could be 1963) so I don't think it's a side oiler because they didn't do that until 1965. I know it's was a crate engine from ford and not from a car. Any one know any more details from codes would be helpful.

Thanks

The books I have indicate C3AE-H heads as 427 Low Riser from 3-15-63. I find nothing on a C4AE-H head in my stuff (doesn't mean it didn't exist)
The intake C3AE-K indicates a '63 aluminum dual-plane 8V
Good luck!
