Wow, a lot to mull over.
New Rods will be from $450-$550.
The machining can't really be forecasted yet.
Would need a complete set of heads. (really like the newer BBM's heads)
Intake
Carb.
When I got ripped by the original engine builder, I had most all parts sponsored by some of the best part manufactures out there. I explained to them what happened. I guess I should pull my tail back out of my ass, and contact them again to see if we could again, come to a deal. I'm sure the editors of the magazines would publish the build again. I just hate to ask AGAIN.....
Since the builder also stole my almost new,... hard drive camcorder..., tri-pod, bag and my Sony camera. So, there's a expense too.
It was hours & hours,...working on the published build and with my bad health, I don't know if I could do it again ???
besides my other chronic pain issue, three years ago I had a problem with my diabetes and such a bad infection that my blood went "septic". Total of 24 days in our hospital. I was flown to the Mayo's clinic in Minnesota, almost unresponsive. The team of specialist Doc's told us that one more day without their aid, I'd been done for. The flight alone was $17,500. Total bill was $186,000. We're still working with the Hospitals, Doctors, MedFlight and insurance company's. (I love flying, but not that time) lol
Years ago, we had great,...insurance, but 8 years ago, my wife's employer "Molex" sold to another billionaire family, and they changed to Blue Cross Blue Shield, and it sucks ! lol... All employees are pissed !
Sorry for the boring story, I just want everyone to know what I'm working against, and rather than giving up, I'm doing the best I can, to gain back my 'Sprit For Life".
Getting my Cobra back & driving/showing, will help a lifetime
Thanks for your help guys !

New Idea
Forget the 427 or my earlier suggestion for a 428. Go for a nice 390FE build. They're easy, look exactly the same as a 427/428, and you'll save a boatload of cash and stress. Blykins can build one of those for you in an afternoon and it will sound, look, and perform just like a 427/428.

The 445 ci 390 is a stour motor, and likevyou said, a lot cheaper. But, I'm one of those Cobra idiots that have to use what they origional cars had, which of course was the 427 & 428.
Same goes for the 514ci. 8k with 625 HP, but not a FE. Know what I mean Vern.
(I'd have to change out or trade a lot of parts, as I'm set up for a FE. Plus, I don't know if it would fit under my hood, fit in the trans tunnel etc.) ?
550 (+) HP/TQ is a must.
But,.......the 390 is worth thinking about.
Brent, apx.......what you have in a 390 and how much ?

Kevin,
I am truly sorry to hear about your troubles. But I still believe that if you just fly to Chicago, check it out and make your deal you will have what you really want and something to pin on your bucket list and never look back!
Just my 2c
