New FE heads by BlueThunder
Blue Thunder will be releasing a new FE head soon. We have had the prototypes in the shop to look at and tweak. There will be a couple of styles available. A replacement style that will flow more than anything out there comparing as cast heads. The other a high flow high HP versions that should flow in the 400CFM range ported if not more. We are now getting 380 out of the Edelbrock heads and these have a raised intake and exhaust port so should be interesting. Should see some of the original style heads in a few months. Thanks Keith Craft
Keith, Very interested in the Blue Thunder info and the 380cfm number you achieve with the E'Brocks. Is that spec at 600" lift or higher? Also what induction cfm is required with that much port flow? I have Shelby's stage II , replacement style [320/235] cnc'd with 613-633 lift Ultradyne and 1200 cfm dual quad induction. Is this combo close to optimum or under/over carbed? 427 sized OE /SO dynoed 560 this way Thanks for any thoughts.

BlueThunder FE heads
Chas, the 380 flow number is at .800 lift, the Edelbrocks we do will flow about 355-360 @ .600 lift. The 2x4 set up you have is plenty of carburation for your application. The 2x4 carburator set up are always harder to tune and it depends on how the carburators were prepped. We like to use a single four for best performance and drivability. we will normaly use a 850-950 with these heads and make from 600HP to 800HP depending on the size and options.
RDorman, we are a blue thunder dealer and would be happy to check on a intake for you. give us a call at the shop and we will check it out for you
Hi Keith, I was wondering if you had the flow data for a stock 427 Medium Riser Heads so that We can compare the difference between your heads and the stock Iron ones.
If the heads are anything like the valve covers...the status will be "backordered". I've been trying to get Cobra Lemans valve covers for a couple months now without any luck. Looks like I may have to purchase an inferior casting if I plan to run my engine anytime soon

The original 427 Medium Riser heads flow about 240@.500, 250@.600 and pretty much level out here. The original heads can be worked to flow some good numbers as well. We have done these heads several times and have gotten over 300CFM@.600 lift.
I will contact Blue Thunder about the new FE heads. They had told me they would be out around the first of the year. I will post as soon as we find out something. Thanks Keith
Perhaps you could chime in on your high HP Windsor based small blocks here http://www.boss302.com/board/viewthr...FID=3&TID=5528
, as this somewhat arrogant guy, cw427, states that crate motors use "Mexican parts". I put a plug in for you, but you could probably do a better job than me.

I talked to A.T. Francis Tuesday and he says that these heads are being cast right now and hopes to have some of them machined in about 3 weeks. I told him I would like a set to do some testing with. He says they will flow some good numbers out of the box. He says it will be quite a bit better than the Edelbrocks out of the box. I will let everyone know more when I find out more. I do believe that the castings will be about 200.00 more more than the Edelbrocks. I hope to have some numbers on the Shelby heads we are porting soon. They will be a stage 2 style port job. Thanks Keith Craft

Blue Thunder FE Heads
I will try find out some more information on the heads from A.T. Francis at Blue Thunder in the next few days. These heads should be about ready by now. Last I talked to him they were cast and being machined. Thanks Keith Craft
