Smile Gessford Does it Again! CSX479 Ready for Install

George Anderson and the guys at Gessford have just finished my engine - CSX479. A Shelby Aluminum 427 stroked to 472. It has an LA Enterprises Kryptonite Crankshaft, Edelbrock Heads, and a Mighty Demon 5423010GC Barry Grant 825CFM Carb. It is set up to run at about 10:1 compression on pump gas. I am mating this to a TKO 600 Roadrace 5 Speed transmission.

I can't wait to get this put into CSX4794 (hopefully done by September or October). Then after that - the battle for registration under SB-100 in CA begins.

George is great to work with and I highly recommend him for any of your Cobra engine needs.

I have included a couple shots

That there is a LOT of motor.

Now, after all that expense don't tell me you couldn't spring for a stainless expansion tank and breathers, huh?!?

So was it just coincidence that you got CSX 479 and 4794?

Looks like someone is going to have some fun.

I'll be in line with you on Jan. 3rd at the DMV.

What an artwork that engine is.

Jan. 3rd everyone should wear a name tag, there are going to be a lot of CC guys at DMV. If we get a head count, I'll bring the donuts.

I'm learning to appreciate an alloy engine! I got the iron heads off my 427 s.o. and I can see the car "sit up" a little higher as a result. The alloy 2X4 intake I'm running is amazingly light weight, the heads are HEAVY!

It seems saving even a few pounds here and there makes a difference!

Mark11 Mark having known George, what kind of fuel will this motor be running on? 151 Bacarida, 180 Georgia Moon, 86 Old Grand Dad. I sure whatever you decide it will run great. Just watch out for the watering holes you pass. Rick Lake Ps nice valve covers

Mark -

Nice looking engine!

Ernie -

Why don't you sell those hi risers to some collector and get a set of aluminum heads?

That way you can find intake gaskets a lot easier.

Mark,

Same 472 as yours, you will love it. Only problem is the 347 George finished for us with the webers just beat me the other day.

Pat,

I am going to prented I did not read that.

Really though, the 347 smoked me. I had tire spin so I am blaming it on the tires,

Thanks all for your nice feedback on the engine.

For those interested, a full parts list, photos and a nice video of the engine running can be seen at:

http://www.gessford.com/work/images/MarkLevinCSX427.htm

And yes, I confess, it was more than a coincidence that the engine block CSX479 matches up with the car CSX4794 - thanks to some help from Chris at Shelby.

Allan - The last thing I need to hear before I get my 427 in the garage is that I could have had a quicker 289 FIA. I suspect this engine will be way too much for me anyways.

Mark
