Finished building my 428!
It took me a year of pinching every penny and working all the overtime I could get, but I finally got my 428 together and running! Started it on a friend's starter stand last week. Wow! It blew me away. Sounded awesome. I've got some pics, if somebody could please tell me how I post pictures! I also have some video, but that will have to wait until I can get over to my brother in laws to have him upload it for me.

Congrats! Looks great.
Congrats on the motor build. It looks great. I love the mercury valve covers, I need to find a set for when my 390 goes back into my pickup.
Tell us the other specs, I see edelbrock heads and maybe intake?

10.25:1 .030 over 428
Edelbrock heads from Keith Craft with a valve job, some bowl work, and better valve springs
Rocker stand stud kit for Edelbrock heads

Edelbrock Water Pump
Jet Performance Stage 2 Holley 750, vacuum sec electric choke

D.U.I. custom distributor
3/8 hardened pushrods (got them for FREE!)
All the oil gally holes were drilled and tapped for plugs and I'm running adjustable rocker arms just in case I decide to switch to solid cam someday.
Oh, and about the Mercury valve covers... the adjusters on my rocker arms were hitting the breather baffles, so I can't use those valve covers now. Sucks, because I really wanted to use them. Borrowed my buddy's taller valve covers off his Tunnel Port, and used them to break the engine in. Oh, and I should mention this engine is going in my '70 Cougar, hence the desire to use the Mercury valve covers. I'm trying to chase down some aluminum valve covers with Cougar scripting on them, I've seen them in old Super Ford magazines. If anyone knows where I can find a set, let me know.

By the way, I added a picture of my Cougar to my gallery, if anyone wants to see what this engine is going in.

Sounds great.
Hey Jared,
That sounds like a pretty serious build there. That cam looks interesting, I haven't looked at Cam Research before, I'll have to check them out. Let us know how you like it in the car.
The cougar looks great too. Is it 4spd or auto?

C6 tranny. After I had the engine balanced for an automatic, I later found out a friend had a toploader he would have sold me for $350. Oh, well, I figure even with an automatic that engine should put a smile on my face when I hit the gas.

Motor looks super Jared. I have a 428cj for my 1970 eliminator and am collecting parts for winter project. Your setup is very similar to mine. This is my first post and also my first fe. I'll keep in touch!
