In comparing insurance costs, all the coverage variables in an insurance policy would need to be considered:
* Agreed Value or ?
* Unlimited mileage or specific annual mileage not to be exceeded
* UnInsured/UnderInsured Motorist
* Multi-car discount
* Age of drivers, under/over
* Bodily Injury Liability
* Personal Injury
* Comprehensive
* Deductible amount
* Specific use restrictions and allowed usage
* State vehicle is garaged/registered in w/zip code
* Other ?

Don -
Our policies are the same as Hagerty, Grundy, Midwest Classic, American Hobbyist, etc. We all restrict driving the car in anyway that would replicate daily driving (work, errands, etc). I don't know of many insurance companies that want to let a collector auto (specifically a Cobra Replica) that is insured at Agreed Value, be a daily driver. Just want to clarify that factor. As far as what we deem pleasure use: our vehicle usage form like most reads like this: Vehicles can be used for Occasional pleasure use driving, exhibitions, club activities, parades, and other driving not in violation of the following provisions; 1) backup transportation 2) Errands 3) Driving to work or school 4) Business or commercial purposes 5) Utility use (i.e. hauling, etc) 6) participation in, practicing, testing for any racing, speed contest, time trial or track event of any kind, whether competitive or not.
We send this form out with every quote for a Cobra Replica. Not too many people have a problem with it, however, we do have the occasional that does. Unfortunately, with car insurance you will never get the best of both worlds (drive the car anywhere, pay a decent premium, with agreed value coverage). If I can clarify anything else, please let me know.
Also, in response to another post in this thread. Great American folded their personal auto program into a new company Infinity Property and Casualty. After that was completed, Infinity spun itself off and went public. The mention Doug had on unlimited mileage only pertains to California policies only. In CA we offer 1000, 3000, or unlimited driving. The unlimited program still adheres to the outline I stated above.
If I can answer any insurance related questions for anyone, please PM me.

Received the following e-mail this morning:
From: robbin@midwestclassicins.com
Subject: New Collector Car Insurance program allows you to Drive To Work
Date: May 2, 2008 10:04:43 AM EDT
Good Morning,
Through the many years we have been writing collector car insurance there are a few things that people have has asked for in an insurance program:
Good rates on vehicles
Coverage for Spare Parts
A Roadside Assistance Program
Deductible options on all vehicles
Agreed Value Coverage - all years
Glass Coverage without a Deductible
Coverage while the vehicle is under restoration
Rollover Miles - Don't use them, you don't lose them.
Ability to Drive your Car to Work - (THIS IS THE BIG ONE)
I am happy to say that American Modern Insurance Group has listened and responded. We now have seen a great program made better with these additional coverage enhancements. This coverage is not available in all States but additional States are being added all the time. Currently this coverage is available in all states with the exception of AR, CA, MA, MS, MT, NH, NJ, NC, SC, UT and VA. If you are in these States we will update you as they are added.
If you currently have coverage with us and would be interested in this new program we can endorse your American Modern Home policy. If you are in Infinity/Great American we would be glad to quote your policy in American Modern and let you know the rate. We are expecting a lot of interest in this program. This email goes out blindly to about 1,000 people at this time and it will take us some time to get back to everyone, but we will do it.
If you are a current client thank you for insuring with us and allowing us to keep you abreast of the constant changes in the Insurance Collector Car Industry. If you are not a client, has your agent let you know about these great changes and new opportunities. New clients that would like a quote please email us the following and we will get a quote out to you:
State the vehicle is registered in
Year, Make, and Model of vehicle
Modified or Original
Value of Vehicle
Approximate Annual Miles you drive
Just a handful of questions to answer and we can get a quote back to you.
Have a great weekend and enjoy those cars.
Sincerely,
Robbin R. Terry, CIC

If you're eligible, USAA has great service and coverage. I called them up, told them what I had and they e mailed me my proof of insurance in a .pdf. I have full coverage on the FFR and my 2006 F150. It costs me about $600 per six months. This is with no restrictions, except it doesn't cover track time.

My insurance is coming due at the end of the month. I have it insured thru Robbin @ Midwest. The Cobra was not together yet when I first insured it with an aggreed value of $26,500.00 for $325. per year. I called my State Farm agent yesterday and got quoted $235. per year on $35,000.00 agreed value, Classic car ins, 5000 miles per year.
