Default Serial Number on FE?

Where would I find the serial number on an FE block? I found the casting number, is that the same? I need it for NJ registration, but it asks for the serial number not the casting number. Thanks!

Some 428 blocks had a serial number on a pad at the rear of the block on the drivers side that was hand stamped you could make one up and stamp your block in the same place but i dont know if that would work for them or not

That was a partial VIN number and was stamped into some 390's as well.

My 1966 427 side oiler, which came from a 1967 R-code Galaxie, has the car's VIN # stamped on a flat boss on the passenger front side of the block just below the head, see below (I left the "R" but photochopped the rest so no one comes knocking trying to claim it given that I bought it out of a barn in South Texas.) It also has the casting date in the normal spot, and another date stamp of October 19, 1967, which I assume is when it was put in the car given that the VIN checks out as a fall '67 production car.
