Hello fellow WCC:
Today I sent Vern and email on behalf of all of us. It is not fair that he is holding us hostage with his non-responsiveness for parts that he is the sole source. I hope that something pans out of this.

Lou, Please don't get your hopes up thinking that Vern is on the cusp of recognizing the error of his ways. Good luck, but realistically we can source between all of us here. As tough as that may seem, it's your best hope.

Lou, even if he calls you right back do you really want to struggle through getting something from him and pay in advance? I am not sure if John (Painter) is committed, but he is a decent guy and may come through if you contact him. John helped me find a few minor things I needed that broke. I have either made the parts needed (find a good machine shop) or found it with google and made it work. Coupled with the original manuals you guys have posted it can be done if we share sources and keep notes in the manual. Sorry, but it is like abandoned kids making due with ingenuity and street smarts. The only unique item is the body molds.

UPDATE UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys were right no response to date, not even the phone is being answered. Dave you cannot be more right abandoned children. I have never gotten a reply from Painter either despite several attempts.
Does anyone know where can I get the Stainless Steel door sills? I need to cover my sills, I hate how they look.

Your best bet is to use poster board paper to cut out a pattern. Take it to a machine shop and cut it out, smooth it over and have them chromed. Or you can make them from stainless. It would be more expensive than waiting for Vern, but you can see that you'll never get your door sills that way...

I'm going to add a couple inches to the roll bar to make it work above my head. I have different seats which don't slouch me down and push my legs forward. This makes me just a bit taller in the seat. I'm still in a good position because I don't have seat rails. I am going with a Lexan sheet inside the roll bar to block the wind-storm. All that is custom work, it can be reasonably reproduced with a little inginuity. The cost is going to be the worst part. At least your in control with your pocket book.

I wonder about getting parts to fix the body. I don't like the prospect of having to aquire another body to find patch parts if necessary. Vern has made life incredibly more difficult by letting go of the business, and keeping it to himself. He needs to sell everything and get out of the business altogether in order to help his customers. It is indeed agrivating and dismaying that he's just checked out. What a shame.

Xack, just finished my roll bar, I have some honey-do's today but will post pictures. Welded extensions, raised it and put in a "bronze" wind deflector (tinted plex) and welded tabs to mount to the bar. Then did a re-chrome. The cut on the glass is a bit rough but it was a "trial" and I like it and can recut this winter. Stand by.I did not take cost, i did not care as it "needed" to be done.

I was going to drill & tap holes to mount brackets. I'm thinking now that's not a good idea because the metal is not that thick and welding / re-chroming is the way to go. I really don't want weld the roll bar on the exposed chrome surface.

Here are the roll bar/wind screen. Some water spots on the tab... I also put some rubber grommets with small metal sleeves at the bolt location. The screen gets buffeted a lot and the first one spider cracked. I used 1/4-20 bolts and with the sleeves I can hold down tight. Works great

Xack: Have you considered using rivet nuts or threaded metal inserts? I know my LBS (Local Bicycle Shop) uses them to install inserts that can be used for water bottles or even pannier racks. They'll take a fair amount of weight.

Interesting that McMaster-Carr have stainless steel inserts.

I haven't done this yet, but I'm sure giving it serious thought. I bought my insert tool and a small assortment of fasteners from Princess Auto, the Canadian counterpart to Harbor Freight (45 Piece Threaded Insert Riveter Kit).
