Brent's RCR GT MKIV Build Log

Well, about the middle of last year I made the decision, along with my better half, that I need something to get me away from the puter every once in a while, plus the winters around here just make me crazy. :) Always enjoy the GT's and figured I would try something a little different.....An RCR MKIV. It's a pretty wild looking ride, isn't very practical, and that's just the way I like it. :)

It arrived just last week and while I haven't had much time to spend on it, I have tinkered for several hours.

Here's the basic specs:
  • RCR MKIV Kit
  • Keith Craft 482
  • Porsche 930 Transaxle
  • Bluestreaks all around (STICKY!)
  • Vintage Wheel Halibrand replicas....Wish the original style wheels were available, but not such luck at this time.
  • Wilwood brakes
  • Right hand drive, just to keep things interesting!

This is going to be one hell of a project and it will be interesting to see if I can spare the time...It is fun to tinker though!!

Here's some pics so far (more in my MKIV Albulm Brent Mills Album - Club Cobra Photo Gallery ) :

Starting to pull her apart....It's hard to take her from a rolling chassis to completely disabled, but it has to be done.

I'll post more when I have updates worthy of doing so.

By the way, this is what I hope to end up with (color, stripes, meatballs, etc).

Brent,
I wont show this to the guys as they wil cry after spending four months building her for you....just to have her torn limb from limb...

I have been sending you emails but have not heard from you...maybe a blockage.

Brent

Congrats on a new adventure.......

I would check in with Dean L. as he had many issues with the suspension ......but I'm sure nothing a veteran like you can't fix.....

Plus it makes it a challenge.....

Morris

Those wide angle lens shots give a interesting perspective, but how about a couple of shot taken with normal or telephoto angles?

Way to go Brent...

I'm glad to see the wood panels in the final pic. I knew there was a Morgan in there somewhere.

Congratulations, Brent!!

Are you leaving it red?

Congradulations Brent, Try M&A Castings, I found the site this week and they have the MKIV Turbine wheels.

Thats a wild looking ride..very nice

RedCSX1 03-04-2008 11:46 AM

Brent,

Very cool project. Why did you go with this manufacturer? Did they offer something more than the other GT40 kits on the market?

Cobra Pack 03-04-2008 12:47 PM

Brent,

Have you checked with Fran Kress on wheels? I am pretty sure he is making the correct Mk IV turbine style wheels. He is using M&A Castings for them.

Regards,

Mike Pack

Mike Teske is the guy that has the Mk4 wheels ...the issue is that we use a five pin drive and he uses a six...otherwise Mike would already be supplying RCR.

We are trying to come up with a remedy so stay tuned.....

Congrats Brent, you can call me anytime about the setup. I know it is a long way away, but if you need anything just let me know. The suspension is state of the art as you already know. I just worked through my bump steer and that is what Morris was referring to. The suspension is so adjustable it is crazy!
