Smile Allen Engish's RCR40 Build

Well I am not really building my car, but it is a build never the less. I purchased a Race Car Replicas GT40 from Fran hall last September and assigned them to a full turn key build.

My goal is as it was with the FFR Cobra I had and is to get a historic looking vehicle with some of today's technology. My research showed that the RCR was perfect for me.

I called Fran Hall of Race car Replicas a few time to talk over my perfect GT40 replica and he was willing to take on the task at hand. Sine the GT40 was designed to race at Le mans and to beat the all mighty Enzo at his own game I wanted to have Race Car Replicas create a Le Mans winner Ferrari for Lunch bunch kind of car for ma as well.

So keep in mind that this car Fran is building for me is no nasy pansy GT40 replica!

This car will be a stunning blue with twin white stripes running over the car as if they were leading the car around the track at Le Mans back in the day! The car will be fitted with roundels and rocker stripes that say Ford as well. We wont stop there either, the car will be dressed up with sponsorship decals as well. The engine will be fitted with the all mighty Webers. No wait. They look like Webers induction, but no they are a impostor in descised. They are the all new DynaTek Fuel Fuel Injection system from the 21st Century - Ingenues indeed!

So don't expect the perfect copy here, that is not what I am trying to pull off. I am just showing you the car of my dreams and what makes people like us all keep going...

Photo updates to come...

Allen, I loved your Cobra, it was one of my first favorite cars here. I can't wait to see what your GT40 winds up looking like!

I am very jealous also. GT40s are awesome.

Default Allen Engish's RCR40 Build

Thanks Sal. The GT40 will certanly be differant to drive, I hear backing up is a real pain. I plan to ad a camera system to the car at some point to help with that little problem though.

A camera system is an excellent idea.

Gentex, makes cameras for several cars. They have an great camera and the display is in the mirror.

Hi Ron,

Wow that is a far cry from the two halves of aluminum you picked up from me. Very cool to see it ended up on a proper frame. I wish I was in a position that I could own a Kirkham Cobra as well as the GT40. Maybe some day

Heck I have a three car garage, I should be able to put a GT40, Cobra and a SL-C in there with room on my parking lift for just one more car

Oh - I don't think the wife would go for that

How are you doing? It looks like you may be in Oregon, I would like to see your cars some time. Oregon is pretty big, but I do like to drive and it would give me an excuse to take the 40 on a road trip. I don't know when you moved out this way, but it is certainly a good time for it. I just found 3 acres on the old Scenic Hwy looking over the Columbia Gorge, it is covered by a 1.5 acre stocked lake and is at a bargin price of $775K. Now if I only new some body that would give me that kind of $ I would be in seventh heaven.

Sorry to get off track

Thanks I will look into the cameras. I do like the idea of using the mirror to view from.

The RCR40 looks awesome! I was looking at their 917 Replica the other day. How are they to deal with?

Fran Hall has been great! He has spoke with me several times and seems to be very intuitive to my plans. The 917 is a cool race car and I had the chance to see one nearly completed while I was at his shop.

Good luck on the GT40.
Your FFR was an inspiration for mine and was my wall paper for a number of months on my computers!

Excited for you Allen! Bet you can hardly wait!

I've been super busy this summer that pulled me away from my project...hoping to get refocused in the next couple weeks.

Hi Brent, Sorry to hear you haven't got much further on your build. Now the the summer is going away and the rain season is about to come, maybe you will find more reasons to go into the shop and work on your RCR.

Maybe I can make it to the Historic Races up there next year and meet with the northern Cobra and GT40 club members for that event. I would like to get a chance to see your car.

#13 I can second Allens dealings with Fran Hall of RCR. He is a great guy to deal with and I would recommend an RCR. I worked closely with Dean Lampe while he was constructing his GT 40. I think Fran may be bringing the 917 to Run N Gun this year. I know he has refined many things on his cars over the past year and they just keep getting better.

Thanks!

It won't be long and the Kieth Craft 302/306 motor will be installed and backed up by a nice ZF Transaxle furnished by Race Car Replicas.
