And if you want a blue chip investment, buy Johnson & Johnson. You get a 3%+ dividend yield plus in the last year 15% appreciation. No maintenance or insurance. That's a blue chip investment. ;)

I'd love me a gt40, but I'd rather have the Porsche. Even if it weren't a gt3. I fact for that kind of dough, my preference would be a Singer...

I frequent the GT40s.com site, but I'm just a lurker. I'm not in the market to buy and my technical expertise is limited to using my credit card to purchase oil and wax. :LOL:
For those that don't know your car, here's the link (below). Regardless of my thoughts on the SPF GT40's being a kit car, your GT40 is drop-dead gorgeous.

And if it weren't too confining (i.e., claustrophobic), I would have purchased one instead of my Kirkham. They were roughly the same price in roller status back in 2007-2008. And they're still pretty close in price. |

Don't get me wrong the modern Porsche is a fantastic car. If I had a 6-car garage, I'd own one. However, I live in Silicon Valley, and while the GT3 is more rare, Porsche's (and Audi's, BMW's, etc.) tend to be somewhat ubiquitous.
The GT40 is not. You just can't drive them and leave them parked outside like you could with a Porsche. |

I was hoping this thread would provide the initiator some useful information to base his decision on. I am sorry if my comments caused some negativity. We all feel very strongly about our cars so it is easy to understand the opinions expressed here on both sides of the issue.
Yes, I will challenge 2161 with my GT3. We can compare 1/4 mile, 0-60, and lap times at any of the following tracks: Big Willow, Streets of Willow, Button Willow, Laguna Seca, Sears point or Thunderhill. Let me know when you would like to meet, preferably when they are having a lapping day. I have GPS equipment that can measure acceleration in both cars. |

2161 does not share space with some VW looking, grocery getting, daily driven, family sedan. I do have a Toyota pickup that would play parking lot tag if you like?

And trolling here doesn't make your GT40 anything but a kit car replica of a 1960's race car, just like my Kirkham Cobra. ;) |

Ha Ha, nice dodge there GT40 boy. Ok I will up the stakes, how about sharing track space with an original Cobra, does that meet your standards? Same deal except Laguna is out, too loud. To make it interesting we could add a monetary wager too.

Good old Mike has dropped an alloy 302 1x4bbl with a solid lifter "LeMans spec" cam and his car is not finished. From the sound of it, he sounds like a waxer just like me. :LOL:
Beautiful car though. |
