Getting back to Ken Miles, I heard some years ago the the cause of the wreck was the rear body of the 'J' car had a tendency to lift the rear wheels off the ground at high speed, which led to the redesigned rear as we now know it. I would not be surprised if Ford tried to cover up the cause of the crash. As the whole story unfolds, we see the ruthless behavior of Henry Ford II and his corporate bad boys. Carroll Shelby shines in this book.
On a lighter note, I think Tom Waites should play Shelby in the movie.

I told my wife about the book when posted here in June 29th... Apparently she paid attention. She ordered it without telling me and brought it home yesterday afternoon. I finished it tonight and really enjoyed it.
Thanks.

Finished mine about 2 weeks ago. Great read! It gave me a view of those times that I'd never gotten from any other media. Thanks AJ!

Thank you everyone for the good vibes re: Go Like Hell. I worked so hard on that book, it's amazing to see people enjoying it. Regarding twobjshelbys comment above about computer simulation, there's a great collection of Society of Automotive Engineers papers that has all the original published engineering papers for the GT40. It's called The Ford GT: New Vehicle and Technical History of the GT40. That's where I got all the detail that I used re: computer simulation and how the Mk II was built. The car that crushed Ferrari in the end!!!

Check out A.J. "deer in the headlights" Baime with the one and only Jay Leno talking about Go Like Hell. As you'll see, I have the proverbial face for radio.

Awesome!

When you mentioned looking at the old videos, Jim McKay was one of the very best.

Producer Lucas Foster was on Adam Carolla's podcast today to talk about his new movie "Law Abiding Citizen."

http://www.adamcarolla.com/ACPBlog/2...-michael-irby/

About 15 minutes into the the interview, Lucas Foster mentions that Fox has optioned "Go Like Hell" and that they are working on a feature film. Foster said it would probably take at least five years to put it together and that they're getting a lot of interest from actors like Josh Brolin, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Daniel Day Lewis.

Hopefully they'll make it...can you imagine the budget that they'll need to do it right?

I'm sure A.J. can provide us with more details.

Fall to your knees and pray that it goes into turnaround, so a real studio can pick it up. Fox has butchered everything they've touched for the last several years. If it hits theaters with a Fox logo, I predict Tom Cruise as Shelby, Jim Carrey as Enzo Ferrari and Miss Boobs-of-the-Week as the pointless love interest.

The cars will all be relegated to the CGI department and use Chrysler starter sounds because they sound so kewwwwwllll. Oh, and since GM will pick up the car sponsorship (on bailout money), the Corvettes will win this time.

Well, enjoy the book instead. It's a page turner even though you know how it ends.

It's been a long time since I've posted on the Forum, been disgustingly busy. But to respond to KGS365, there's some awesome movie news regarding Go Like Hell, with big names like Josh Brolin being throw around. See this site and scroll down: http://theplaylist.blogspot.com/

Who doesn't want to see the Ford/Ferrari battle of the 1960s played out on the big screen in a seriously funded production?!!! Now that's a party.

That's cool A.J.! Hopefully they'll put it on the fast track and make the movie sooner than later.

Great news! Hopefully this will happen soon. I was going to suggest the 50th anniversary but that would be too long.

I'm glad the option isn't just sitting on someone's desk!!! By the way, now we know who the producer is!!! (At least in this early stage, it often changes.)

Congrats!

I'm also adding a direct link to the article - the front page one will fall off in the not too distant future:
