Well in the overall scheme of things, I think someone saying that they don't like the way you downshift is pretty benign.....ROFL

so I'm new and this is an old thread, the mechanic who worked on my car before I bought it, blown head gasket, told me the QFT carb is leaking.. I have verified this. bottom left screw on main bowl..small leak. mechanic said the bolt was stripped.. I spoke to Mo Muscle, hot rod shop, before I even told them what carb I had they recommended QFT, they said its possible to disassemble the carb and the thread might catch on the rebuild. I plan to try it this weekend because its 50% chance of rain.... the old mechanic recommended a larger cfm double pumper with a 4 corner idle circut, mechanical secondaries and a manual choke.. oh and dont us the choke, just feather the throttle... I guess I need to practice that, I prefer a choke.. anyway hopefully I can dissaemble and reassemble the QFT and not have to replace it.. I have a 351W with a cam.. and a little carb experience from 20 years ago.. so If I can keep the carb I have, that I know works.. except for the leak... I would like to .. looked at replacing the main body.. but I expect I will create another problem.. in the process.. fingers crossed..

Can stripped hole in carb body be helicoiled? Reading the old posts on this thread I'm amazed at some owner's impatience dealing with mechanical issues like tuning a carb. Love my QFT and tuning it with an O2 sensor was easy. Anyone want a Holley Street Avenger (non adjustable) cheap?

Why replace the mainbody, you can get helicoil kits for this purpose and never have the problem again.
