Default I think I broke my Mallory 6AL

I don't know if any of you guys have done this? I fitted the Mallory 6AL (I already have a mallory HEI dizzy) I forgot to connect the ground wire! The engine started, and ran OK, I checked the timing, went to adjust the timing and got a big shock when I touched the dizzy It then stopped, and hasn't worked since, so I'm running direct through dizzy at the moment.
Any ideas? Blown fuse inside 6AL maybe?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Mark

Hi Bob, you're right, but I hate to buy something (that I thought would improve performance (probably read way toooo many tuning books!))
But, yeah it works fine as it is, and I'm never going to rev that engine to the max, so it probably was not worth me buying it in the first place. But, as I have bought it (if it's a simple fix) i'd like to use it.
As a side note, looking at lots of engine pics on the UK Cobra club, nearly everybody uses them (or MSD)

Mark; did you do the test procedure for the box? Connect it and turn ignition on? The red diode should make a couple (book says three) blinks. Mine looked as it gave two, but Mallory said that was OK...
I never peeked inside a Mallory box (just a MSD) , so I cannot help you with details on what has been fried. Take it apart and have a look; or send it back for repair? (I have a curious mind, so I's go for the first option). However, I would bet that it's something more intricate than a fuse that's gone. Usually some transistor or whatever, and you have to test them all to find out which.

Just opened the box, no fuse, or even an LED! As soon as I connect the permanent live wires (marked battery in picture) the Aluminium piece (at the bottom of the circuit board) heats up (rapidly and hot!) This can't be normal I guess?
