Default Distributorless ignition

Has any have any experience with XDI distributorless ignition from Electromotive or any other company looking for top end fuel injection for a supercharged 495 C.I FE.

I'm not very familiar with the FE engine family, but I figure it has the same fireing order as the 302 & 460.

This means with a FAST XFI system you get a bolt- on injector harness. When going to the coilpack with 8 LSx coils, I don't think there's a bolt- on harness. You will have to reroute wires, but it shoould be no problem.

I installed the system on a stroked 302 with a 351 cam. Same fire order as a 4.6 mod, and used a injector- and coilharness for the install and it works well.

If I were you I would look into what FAST has to offer... They have a great customer service with a tech- forum as well.

I'd consider 16 injectors with a turbo setup; 8 small/ medium into the ports and 8 larger in the plenum, fireing down the inlet manifold tracts. Manifold will be a hi ram EFI, fabricated or maybe the Edelbrock XT if they have one for the FE.

Will support a couple of 1000 Hp's....

There's a guy here who seldom posts named Silverstreak, who has a great looking set up without a distributor. Below is a post of his from another thread, but the pics tell the story.

I've been receiving mixed messages about going distributor-less and am still researching it all.

For top end EFI - I'd look at Motec M800, pricey yes, but certainly top end.
With excellent tech support, forum & even video tutorials on their website.

Gives it a naked simple look in the engine bay.

This was the first way I set up the coils on valve covers for a modern tech style

If you are really looking for the modern coil pack style, -one could always put a LS7 in their cobra...

I'm running a distibutorless system with a crank trigger pickup on my car that comes from MSD. I'm really happy with the whole setup.
Dimis, I agree that the Motec M800 is a fantastic system although pricey. The M800 is capable of analyzing anything you could ever need on a motor. What annoyed me the most, was that after paying big bucks for M800 I was then faced with the prospect of shelling out a further $2500 to receive the codes required to unlock areas of the computer needed to read certain aspects of my system such as the hall effect setup on the crank trigger. I decided to return the wiring harness I had bought for $500 and bought an Autronic SM4 computer and could not be more happy.

Regards.
