Thanks. On the same day I had to heat gun the gumballs off the red car and remove the rally lights for the new owner....

mreid, any stripes on this Kirkham? I think it would be neat, if you went with the navy blue, but left the center stripes brushed bare aluminum.
I was thinking vasoline, but then I'm not typically thinking with my heart.

I'll double up the gaskets as I like the look of the valve cover. What do you think is the best option?

I thought about stripes, but decided on a solid color. I love how my buddy Ron's ERA looks in nightmist blue. Just bad ass!

Spoke to Tom today. Looks like it will be ready for pick up around the end of next week. An evil grin is starting to form on my face!

It's after mid-night, so she should be ready for pick up! Tomorrow...uh, today...I wire my final payment. Intercity says they will pick it up early next week and then to me in 3 or 4 days. Now I'm really excited!

You'll notice a few changes. I went with a 427 style rollbar and the forward bar is uncomfortable for the long cruises I intend to take. Also, we reoriented the dash layout to make it easier to see key gauges on those same long cruises. It has a dropped footbox, so the exhaust issues will have to be addressed. And finally, it will have a wood wheel, not the leather one in the picture. All in all, I'm stoked! Here are some pics:

Awesome Mark!! So exciting, I know exactly how you feel right now

You're using Interstate or Intercity for transport? The only thing I can recommend with them is to make sure they tell you when they are going to Provo to pick up the car. When I called them a month and a half ago to see when the car was going to be picked up, they replied "oh, they picked it up yesterday" haha. Not a big deal but I had to make sure I was going to be home since I am on the road so much.

I wish I had the engine ready like you so I could get going with the rest of the install So much relies on having the engine there for measurements, mock up, etc.. Not supposed to get it till Aug, blah. But the seats and dash are going to the upholsterer next week

Better take some good arrival pics of 690!

You're right it is Intercity and there will be many pictures! I'm all paid up, the car is ready, and it's all in Intercity's hands now. They say early next week, so I may have a car in 8 or 9 days!!! I guess I should go out and finish up the engine and tranny. Get it all ready to drop in on the day it arrives.

Once you get your engine, there's no looking back! August will be here in no time.

Default 289/FIA cars

Great to see the pictures of your 289/FIA . I ordered a 289/FIA #698 and it
should be arriving in Utah any time. I ordered mine with the 427 roll bar also
and with the dash connfiguration the same as Tom Kirkhams which looks like
your car. I have not decided yet on the dropped foot box or not. What were
the deciding factors for that.
Hope to talk with you in the future about our similar cars.
I also race a Lola T-598 Sports 2000 in SCCA Regiional Road Racing.

Hi, the biggest issue for me is that I'm 6'4'' and while most of my height is in my legs, I don't want the top of the windshield in my eyes. I also ordered both the standard seat and a Kirkey low profile. The Kirkey is about 2" lower and can be pushed back a little further. While I really prefer the look of the vintage seat, I'll sacrifice that for comfort if I have to. I'll post more pictures once it arrives. Good luck with yours!

At 6'4", how did you fit into that GT40?

Hyde, it was like puting on a cheap suit. Hard to get into and chaffing in some sensitive areas, but I looked good! The RCR is made to accomodate tall people. I basically was so reclined it was like being in a recliner by the pool. I remember looking out the driver's window (right side) when driving and seeing the axle of a truck next to me. I was thinking I'm no longer 25 and invincible, so it was time for it to go. The cobra should be perfect!

It's here!

690 arrived at 4:30 today and we had it in the garage by 5:00. When I spoke to David last week he said they want to exceed expectations. Well they certainly did with me! This thing is absolutely gorgeous! Also, it is most complete car I've ever purchased. They even included all the radiator hoses, a shifter, motor mounts, drive shaft, and the line from the clutch master to the slave. I am impressed.

Here are some pictures:

My wife took a bunch of pictures, but is having trouble getting them off the camera card. These are from my iphone, so I'll post more later. Now to get to work!
