Default Hi from new guy

I take it I am supposed to write some kind of intro for myself before I begin asking a raft of questions and opinions. OK, here goes:

-57 years old, retired Federal worker (US Army aircraft devices, and logistics computer systems)

-living in Las Vegas for the third time. First came here in 1969, left, came back, left, came back...

-Joined SCCA here in 1971. Used to do some stuff at Stardust Raceway. Got more involved in SCCA in St Louis. Was a corner worker, F & C Chief, then a Starter, then raced a Formula Ford, but not very well. 8 years racing a Sentra in Improved Touring, did well enough to take two Midwest Division IT championships in 1998.

-Owned a varied succession of cars - '57 Chevy, '65 Mustang, TR-3, Spitfire, MG Midget, 914, '67 Corvette convertible, another 914, assorted Mustangs including a '68 California Special, '69 AMX 390, '72 Dodge Demon, '76 Porsche 912E, '68 AMX 390, now another '57 Chevy and a '64 1/2 Mustang.

-It must be a couple of years ago now that I stumbled across what must have been a FFR event at the LVMS outside track. I spoke to a couple of FFR guys about foot room for people with size 14 shoes because junior was thinking about cannibalizing his '90 5.0 to build a roadster. Saw some very nice cars, and maybe that is where the desire started to germinate.

-I have seen scads of Cobras both real and replica over the years. I have lost track of the number of times I have taken guests through the Shelby facility. I attended SAAC 32 in Utah last month and saw that FFR owners weren't heaped with scorn and derision, no acts of violance against those that would own a copy.

I think I would like to try my hand at something current and new, rather than dealing with 40 year old drive trains and sheet metal. Even an incredibly complex full size hobby kit can't be as bad as deconstructing a rust bucket and trying to resurrect it looking like it rolled out of Dearborn. I need a break from that.

If anyone is still reading this, are there some local, fairly recent Mark III roadsters in the Las Vegas valley or close by? In any stage of completition is certainly ok. I have the latest (two week old) assembly manual, but I would like to see some of the work that is needed to complete one. Private email is fine to jerryandsheila@embarqmail.com.

Thanks in advance,
