Default Revised Registration!

I recieved a letter and a " Revised Registration Certificate " today in the mail from DMV. I am a little concerned about the fact that the registation says the insurance company MUST be liscensed in NV! I have a feeling mine aint! The reggie is just about the same just a couple of insignificate changes.

Rob, I got one too. I'd bet your insurance company is licensed in NV, as they wouldn't write insurance for your car if they knew it was located in NV unless they were.
Did you also notice the comprehensive statement about there being a total of only 100 kit car registrations and if you fail to renew you move to the back of the line and wait for one to come available? That's what they told me before that was a point of contention...some said no, there would be 100 per year, but apparently not so.

That makes sense! I did see the failure to re-register prob. I think I was told per year as well. Anyway, that's not gonna be a prob for me! Do you know how many are here in town?

I would like to see the actual law. That is ridiculous to allow 100 registrations in the state of Nevada total!! If that's the case, then I'm going to register my unfinished car, but I sure hope it's just somebody misreading the law.

Not sure how many in town, but I bet the current number is less than fifty. The law said 100 per year, but the interpretation is 100 total; that is what my letter says in black and white (as compared to the LAW that says 100/year in black and white). Check this link here on CC, and do a search on the Las Vegas forum for more...http://snipurl.com/lvreg [clubcobra_com]

I got the same letter. I use State Farm, so I think they just sent a form letter with respect to insurance.

As for the 100 number, the law states 100/yr, but the Clark County Offices of the DMV want it interpreted as 100 total and that is the way they are going to read it and apply it. It is going to take #101+ to take them to court over it or start lobbying the State to clarify it or get it more well defined.

I was number 52 a few months back.

I got mine also. The enclosed letter which was signed by a Management Analyst III and posted from Washoe County was VERY specific. It stated that there will only be 100 total and if you fail FOR ANY REASON to keep it registered you will not be allowed to continue in the program once the 100 total has been met. I think they are interpreting it this way because every year the 100 cars will be registered which will be the 100 cars per year that the law provided for. It might prove expensive and difficult to get the law changed or to change the interpretation. I would urge all to hurry up and get their cars done and registered. The car must be finished, pass a roadworthy inspection, and get a VIN number assigned if needed.

I guess the cars that were registered before the limit is reached would be more valuable IF the exemption is transferrable. The letter does not indicate if it is transferrable. It may be up to the clerk at the time the new owner tries to get it registered.

Good luck
