7-Day Build in Progress

Well, as of 10am yesterday morning (July 10, 2010) the LS 7-Day Build Team has begun building one of its LS427s w/customer John from Illinois, his 10 year old son Jonathan, & cousin Greg. We thought on this build we would keep everyone updated daily on its progress w/pics.

1st, a summary of John's new baby
LS427 Specs:
LS427 Complete Kit (all steel powder coated)
351W 550 hp stroker
Tremec TKO 600 5-peed transmission
Currie 9" Ford Rear End 3:70 gears
4-wheel 12.7" Wilwood drilled/slotted 4-piston brakes
Chrome tilt steering column
2-individual black powder coated roll bars
Black vinyl wrapped dash
Black race jack bumpers
Ceramic coated exhaust
& American Racing 17" Shelby 427 wheels 17X8 fronts & 17X11 rear

Day 1
Installed:
rack & pinion
front upper & lower control arms
coil over shocks (all 4)
brakes & spindles
fuel tank
4-link & panhard bar
rear end & suspension
emergency brake cable
brake & fuel lines
rear bump stops
Engine/transmission
headers
body-to-frame isolating foam
complete body
& body drop floor pans (glassed in from top side)

That's a great program Brian !
People that aren't highly mechanical, have a way to have a Cobra.

Please keep your thread alive here on CC, as we've seen many people post asking questions of who can build a car for them, or at least help. It's a great service you have.

After you get it all together and fit-up and make sure their are no issues i understand you also crank it before the build is over. Now what happens next? Is it ready to get liscened and drive , except for paint of course? I guess it would be up to the body shop or the owner to take it back apart for painting.

I'm a auto body man, and I believe like most Hot Rod Builders, to assemble it to run, take a short drive around the block to see if there's any engine & drive line issues. It's much,....easier to fix problems without the body on and you don't have to worry about scratching that expensive paint job !

I know it sound like too much work but, you'll be happy at the end, if you disassemble and the paint.

Another productive day. Starting to look as if we might be ahead of schedual!

Today we installed:
wipers
front bumpers
windshield
trunk light
horn
and assembled many components such as:
doors & related parts
radiator & related parts
SS nose shroud
for quick instalation tomorrow.

Tomorrow will be a big day! Our goals for tomorrow include installing:
radiator & hoses
SS front nose shroud
battery
doors
rear bumpers
roll bars (2)
steering wheel & reinstall the hood, trunk lid, etc..

Alot of progress will be noticable tomorrow as big parts go on and starts looking more like a car!

Ok, so lets get a bet going and see who can guess clossest to test drive day AND time. Lets have some fun with this..

I'll get it started and say I bet it will be 1pm on Thursday.

I hear Lonestar is painting cars now too. Will you be painting this one for them?

We are painting on occasion. We don't advertise that we offer turnkeys which require paint, however a lot of our charity work involves us building and completing such as those raffled off by Bikers Against Drunk Drivers. He has asked us to trailer his Cobra home after the build so we wont be painting his.

I'll definitely be sure to record & get pics of the first crank experience. Usually goes in this order:
