REMINDER: We are meeting this Sunday at OBI, then rolling out for a Cobra Cruise at 8am. OBI gets crowded early, so I'll be there no later than 7:30. You can get there early or arrive just before 8am and we'll line up and go since parking may be at a premium by then.
Feel free to text me that morning as needed (ie, if you're running late and want to meet us along the route).
Where should we drive to?
1. Westhampton for breakfast at Goldberg's Bagels or The Bakery?
2. Northport for Tim's Shipwreck Diner?
3. East Northport for Bagel Boss?
4. Jericho Bagel Boss?
Or should we just create a loop, drive, and blow off the food?
Email with your vote. I vote for Westhampton personally but I'm flexible.
Bring folding chairs so we can eat outside by the cars wherever we go.

Hello Cobra fans. I just did a dry run and think I have a nice little route for tomorrow morning.
I'm thinking we do this:
Start at OBI. Depart at 8am. (Get there early if you want to hang out and check out the cars. it gets CROWDED early).
Drive west to Long Beach: Long Island Bagel Cafe as the destination. It's 26 miles away along the scenic Ocean Pkw to Meadowbrook Pkw to Loop Pkw into Long Beach. Very few lights or traffic. Just watch your speed.
The Bagel Cafe is on the right and has a small parking lot. If that's full, there is a larger community parking area about 2 blocks up on the left side of the road. We can park there, walk back for food and eat it by the cars. Bring chairs.
THEN
We will then reverse this trip and end our ride back at OBI. When we get back, there will still be plenty of cars but it won't be so crowded that we won't find parking, probably together.*
For GPS: OBI (Oak Beach): 3 Oak Beach Rd, Centereach, NY
Long Island Bagel Cafe, 757 E Park Ave, Long Beach, NY 11561
We just need good weather!

Sadly, it's clearly too wet and dangerous for a Cobra ride today.
Next weekend I have family plans but MIGHT be able to get a ride in anyway.
Would people prefer trying on Sunday, doing the same thing, starting and ending at OBI during the cars and coffee, or doing it on Saturday?
I vote for Sunday during cars and coffee. Is that good for you all?

Let's shoot for Sunday so we have OBI to enjoy as well. Who knows, we may pick up another Cobra or two who just happen to be there. That yellow one with the race decals is often there.

I lived in Oceanside, NY about 16 years ago, before I had my Cobra. I loved to ride my motorcycle on the same route your proposing. You need to anticipate the beach traffic for both Robert Moses and Jones Beaches, they can get very congested on weekends and holidays in season. The fall and spring are perfect for that ride, no traffic and the water surrounding the area will moderate the air temperatures. Enjoy the drive!

Yup, those roads, and especially the southbound bridges get bad starting at 9am. We'll be good at 8am, I hope.

First run is in the books. The turnout may have been small (5 Cobras) but the fun was anything but small!
