Default East End LI Cobra Run

Want to do one this Saturday or even Sunday ?? I promise NO traffic.
The route is simple. Sunrise way out to Exit 61, Rte 51N, go around Compy's favorite NASCAR exit ramp, re-fuel/ralley at the traditional Valero gas station.

Commence north on Rte 51 towards Riverhead ( remember past season's grudge matches here ?) for 7-8 miles of continuous gear slamming opportunity.........or just relax and c ruise past the farms. Then you go around Riverhead traffic circle to Rte 24 south for 1 mile, hook a left for another 8 miles of 2 lane dead straight "smoothy" on Rte 105N. This ends at Sound Ave right near Briamere Farms (terrific solid fruit pies!) where we have had past ralley points on the LICR East End Rumbles. Proceed west from here headin home for about 10 miles on a more civilized farm scened Rte 25-A and you are in Wading River where there is a Hess, deli, pizza parlor and McD's. From there it's only a 4 mile hop-skip to LIE Exit 69 OR continue past the LIE for another 2.5 miles for Sunrise Highway Exit 59.
Total time from Nick's to final LIE is about 2 hrs.
If we start from the beach on Sunday morning around 10am or 11am you will be DONE by Noon-1 O'Clock.
I'm liking Sunday myself as we can cruise straight up the Sag over the Bobby Mo and roll right into Sunrise Hwy east.
If there's any interest please chime in and I will make up maps.
This is not a new run. It's an LICR Re-Run. C'mon !! Times a wasting !!

This Sat is bad for me, actually this weekend is bad, but Sat is worse. I will float this one out there to the Mrs. and see what she says. It's her B-day and she has a test on Sat (bad combo seeing how this brings her one more year closer to the big 40).

Thanks

Yeah, got ticketed there 2 weeks ago for parking. Think they would give someone a break driving a minivan knowing they were probably there with their kids. Anywho, if my friend Ben is up to another trip, perhaps i'll hop a ride with him.

Okay here's a compromise since we have one day to get this off the ground . I may not be at Nick's Saturday. I was in Port Jeff last night and my PT Cruiser went dead. I will be attending to that problem Saturday morning with the trailer. We don't we meet at Robert Moses and Sunrise Highway.

All those at the beach can head up the the Bobby Mo by 10am. exiting at Sunrise Hwy Rte 27 east. STAY ON THE SERVICE ROAD aproximately 500yards. There's a shopping plaza directly on the right side off the service road. I will be there between 10-10:15 as can anyone not making it to OBI for the "rooster call" . From there where can depart once we have joined up.

I can drop off route maps at Nick's today so they will be available to all by Saturday. The entire trip should be done in the Wading River area ,
Rte 25-A/Wading River Rd around noon . This is a King Kullen parking lot location where there is a musclecar meet every Thursday night.
Plenty of parking, McD's/Deli/pizza in the plaza.

If you guys want to change the ralley point to Steve's please give me a call on my cell ?

Has the leave point been decided? Anyone get a weather report...with all the heat lately, will traffic be a problem for overheating the cars?

Bill...this will be a first time there for me.

I left 25+ fliers/maps at Nick's today.
Don't have a count for Sunday but hopefully we''ll have a good group.

Weather is good. We'll be done by 12 or 1 O'clock if you grab lunch at the Wading River end.

There should be little to no traffic on this route except possibly doing 35-40 the last leg on Rte 25-A headin west to Wading River.

Me?? I'm a cruiser....at least Sunday as a lead car....but......
You can bang gears to your heart's desire routes 51 & 105.
I'd not push any 125+ mph stuff though!
We're talkin break out from the line for a 2-3-4th gear romp....or
act mature , like Phil and just cruise at a steady 85MPH !!!
But me ?? I just like to let her roll along at a happy over the age of "50" safe yet mature speed.
Y'know....just like Compy & Steve & Vito & Don & Ted & Larry & Tony ........

So where exactly is this shopping center? Is there a meeting point or stopping point that's a little east more, as I would be coming from the Port Jeff area? Just trying to figure out where to meet everyone if I can go.

Sal...It use to be called Gardner Manor Mall....since reconstruction im not sure. If your coming down the sagtikos pky, then jump on Robert Moses PKY south to Sunrise Highway east. While on the service road the first light is Manor lane, the mall is just after the intersection on the right.

If coming by Sunrise, go west to exit 42 Manor Lane, left at light under over pass to Mall

Since there was not enought lead time for this trip to ask for a off, I probably will not make it since I leave work at 10.
