Bloody exclusive. Only 4 acres? From Wikipedia:
'In 2008, 1.63 hectares (4.0 acres) of vineyard surface was in production within the AOC, and 26 hectoliter of wine was produced,[10] corresponding to just under 3,500 bottles.'

I am not a beer drinker nor a wine drinker. Can people taste the difference between $3500 bottles of wine and, say, $20 bottles of wine?

We have a wine tasting bar in the store so I've had the opportunity to taste a variety of wines from 6 bucks to a couple of hundred. There is certainly a difference between the two but you can get a great bottle of wine for under 20 bucks.
Same with beer. You don't have to drink Sam Smith to enjoy a good brew but plan to spend more than Bud Light Lime.
Same with spirits. You don't have to spend 165.00 on 18 year Macallan or 250 for 23 yr Pappy Van Winkle but plan to spend more than on Clan Mcgreggor or Jim Beam.

Roscoe,
I love your two threads and the titles. Great timing on your part. Life Is Good, followed by Life Stinks.

On wednesday night I shamelessly guzzled glasses of ice cold Krug Grande Cuvee on a boat with a small group of very close friends, celebrating a buddy's 40th birthday. We were wearing shorts and vests (proper champagne drinking atire IMO) and eating tuna tataki and fresh caught kingfish. The Krug was great, but I've enjoyed far lesser brands just as much. What made that day special was the setting and the people.
My all time favorite champagne based on sheer taste is Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill, but the brands my wife and I enjoy on a more regular basis retail for far far less than either of those.
I am not a very heavy drinker, but we have cause and a duty to celebrate frequently (nice day, feeling good, shampooed the dogs, beautiful sunset, Cobra in the garage, etc, etc). It's all about happiness and good times for us. Snobbery, status seeking and impressing others are miserable, joyless indulgences that we have no time or palate for; and in totality, while the quality of the finer brands is undeniable, we have just as many fond memories - more actually - of the times we celebrated something silly with more - ahem - pedestrian libations (chilling to perfection is the key )
