Eutectic Pistons

The 2014 Corvette engine specs mention eutectic pistons. Not being tech savy with aluminum, had not previously heard of the term:

" This point of saturation in aluminum is known as the eutectic and occurs when the silicon level reaches 12%. Aluminum with silicon levels below 12% are known as hypoeutectic (the silicon is dissolved into the aluminum matrix). Aluminum with silicon levels above 12% are known as hypereutectic (aluminum with 16% silicon has 12% dissolved silicon and 4% shows up as primary silicon crystals). "

In theory, the Hypereutectic pistons are stronger than cast, but not as strong as forged. They also (supposedly) do not change size and shape with temperature changes like forged pistons do.

If all that is true, they they're an excellent choice for a street car that has to operate in a variety of conditions. I'v used them a few times over the years without any issues.
