Anyone in appliance repair business?

Wifey has a 2nd refrigerator in the garage that I rent space in for my Beer . It appears to not be cooling any longer, nor is the Freezer functioning. I'm guessing Compressor? Anyone??

Hi Rick,

Most probable cause is a burnt out relay on the compressor. Remove the access cap on the compressor and then remove the relay and give it a good shake. If it rattles of broken contacts then just replace the relay and your good to go...

Access cap? Can you explain a little further, is it ON the compressor or in the circuitry?

Is the compressor running? If so, are the coils frozen up? Dirty coils or refrigerant leak.

If the compressor is not running, then like Glenn says, check the relay first.

And like Mark IV says, lots of YouTube info on fridge repairs.

You should move your wife's stuff in the other fridge to this one and put your beer in the good fridge until it's fixed. You really don't want the beer to get warm.

Rick, just follow the wires going to the compressor and at that point you will see the cap covering the relay.

Ok replaced bad relay, not sure I attached Red or White wires to the correct component . Does Red attach to the relay or the fuse component? Rookie error, didn't mark which color went to which component! DOHH!

Red attaches to the overload going to common and white attaches to the ptc relay in series with the run winding. Then give it the smoke test.
