That's not really how TV works.
The producers, one of whom Clarkson punched for the lame reason that the "food wasn't hot...." (Clarksons words), have the ideas for each episodes storyline, not the on screen talent.
I applaud the BBC President for sacking him, in the executives own words, "...we can't have one code of conduct for the stars and another standard for everyone else......"
