I would like to see how your new CAM is with your engine. I have the BOSS spec CAM in hydraulic but with .550 lift.

Well, I need to go back to ignoring this thread.
That will be fun! I will put aside the fact you are from Michigan if you do the same because I am from Ohio! Chewing my nails now over the match up tomorrow!!!!!

What was your cam specs again? Mine are .528 and 226 (288) and .536 and 230 (292). Soon I will be ordering a Blue Thunder intake for the car. It was pretty obvious from the first time it was on the dyno that the Performer gave up at 5500 when of course the motor wanted much more. Edelbrock says idle to 5500, they mean it. HP hit 5500 and stayed perfectly flat for the next 700 RPM. Need more intake. That was also with a very small 600 on it and the old cam. If HP falls of again hard at 6200 it may be time to add a little more spring pressure, although the springs I have are just slightly higher than recommended for the new cam so I doubt I will be going that route. Although an angle mill on the heads may be in the near future as well.

288 and 290 ( I think ) at .540 and .550 ( here again, I think ).

So, I think we will see Ohio State and Michigan state as a good fight. I, as I should, will be pushing for Michigan. And, I suspect, you will have to live with the fact that Ohio State... Well we'll see. LOL

I am running the Torqer, series one intake. They say it is good past 6000, I'd have to say that is a good claim.

What HP did you get with your last test?? I am very interested as I believe I have about 350 to 400 HP with the engine balanced and blueprinted with the Boss heads at 58 CC.

Math says you should be in the 700 to 780 CFM range if you are going to run 7000 to 8000 RPM.

Clay, just like TV, you can always change the channel

Sounds like our cams are very similar. As for OSU and those teams up North. I am not holding my breath this year!

The last time on the dyno it was 298 and 323 (I think). I don't know if that was corrected or not. It was like 95 degrees that day with high humidity. Corrected it would be like 323 and 346. That was with a 214 and 226 cam and 70 less CFM in the carb and no MSD. Best guess for loss through the toploader and Jag I have found is about 17% or about 350 uncorrected and 377 corrected. So, with the carb, cam, intake, MSD and carb spacer I am hoping to top 340 rwhp. I guess we will find out. I have one of those Gmeter things and it will be interesting to see what it says. An article I read recently gave the Gmeter and accuracy of 4 out of 5 and a chassis dyno a 3.4 - 4.5 out of five which I found rather interesting.

Tru, I would dump the Torker. Not good downstairs. The 4V strip dominator is better, but very hard to find. The blue thunder intake makes almost as much as the strip dominator but has a much, much better torque curve. I have seen back to back dyno tests on all of these. Plus, you can still buy the blue thunder intake.

Now if you can go a little more, then try the crane f246 (246/256 and .570/.590) and a parker funnelweb. No real head work aside from parkers port stuffers. 480HP at 600 (still pulling 477 at 6500) and 451ft-lbs at 4750. The parker alone is worth 36HP and 28 ftlbs over the strip dominator. AND a much broader torque curve, a rare thing indeed. Expensive though and a lot of work to install. This was a 12:1 motor, so obviously actual results with a street compression will be less.

I prefer my cheese on the rocks. But you must drink it fast.

I have lots of rocks, but no cheese. Do I have to have cheese to be on topic, or is this called a hijacked thread if we talk rocks, but no cheese?

Dang, what was the topic again?

Bad call on page one.

Default Rocks

That may be, but I still do not have any cheese.

And, I have a large quantity of rocks.

Since you started it, how do I get 15 pages from the 20 I see.

BTW, I run the torquer for the 6000 to 8000 RPM range. The 4V heads were never designed to run below 3000 RPM.

So you think you are hitting 346 at the wheels? That is good to here.

Do you realize you hadn't started the CAM work at the beginning of this thread an now you are done?

Viagra can't compete with this thread.

Default Re: Rocks

Ans. You may have some of mine

And, I have a large quantity of rocks.

Ans. Large rocks or large in quantity.

Since you started it, how do I get 15 pages from the 20 I see.

Ans. larger monitor with higher screen resolution settings.

BTW, I run the torquer for the 6000 to 8000 RPM range. The 4V heads were never designed to run below 3000 RPM.

Ans. That cam is done at 6500, so why 6000 to 8000? Blue Thunder had nearly the same top end as the Strip Dominator and better than the Torker, while still having a better bottom end. For single plain, nothing beats a funnel web!

So you think you are hitting 346 at the wheels? That is good to here.

And. 346 was corrected torque (if they didn't already correct it). I would like to get to 340 uncorrected with the current setup.

Do you realize you hadn't started the CAM work at the beginning of this thread an now you are done?

Ans. No!

Viagra can't compete with this thread.

Ans. I hadn't thought of Viagra, but a number of seditives and anti-depresents came to mind

So, this is a F.O. day for you as well.

I'll have to check on that funnel web.

I built the engine on 25 year old knowledge.

Why hasn't Turk piped in again?

Turk-wiill that be a FE or a small block for you today?

30 pages here-Who took my BB?
These are Hi-Revving small block pages....

The funnel web makes me drewl. Much like funnel cakes....... with cheese of course. The Torker was HOT in its day. IMHO it now smells of bad cheese.
