Ron, we used the Weed-Be-Gone from Ortho and surprise of suprises, it actually worked for getting rid of some pretty pesty weeds we had. Of course Round Up works on everything it touches, but it is hard on a lawn .
Steve, I would think you could contact some of the advertisers here and see who they use too.

That is a great idea
Thanks Brent.
I have driving myself crazy trying to find someone who would not lie about their fees to open an account. You would not believe what I have been told by some of these jacklegs. They quote one fee and when the contract comes ten minuetes later it is not even close to waht they quoted. When I ask about it I have been told to take it or leave it. Some have demanded complete "unrestricted" access to our business demand deposit accounts. I don't think so!
On one the hold harmless was six pages long on #4 font letters. I had to get a pair of reading glasses just to see it.

Glad I have an idea once in a while.
Our A/C unit has started freezing this weekend. Filters are clean but I have to check the inside and see if it isn't dirty there. Otherwise I suppose it's low on refrigerant! Crud if it is.
Steve, I was corrected on the washer drain, it no longer goes into the yard, it goes into the septic system and I have sealed the hose into the drain in the house. We'll see now.

I hope it all works out for you Brent. I know those buggers can get on your nerves. I have seen that problem hundreds of times in the last twenty years. Each time it was related to the septic system.
Not that the system was in bad shape. It is just ideal weather for their needs.

You guy are complaining about the heat and I'm still wearing sweatshirts or jackets until late in the afternoon I'd give anything for an 80-90* June instead of the upper 50 lower 60* temps we get up here. Seattle weather generally sucks.
No mosquitos though.

G.R.
It was 94, humid, and very dusty here yesterday. Try spending three hours with a weed eater in that. I kind of miss the Washington weather though exept all of the rain. When I was getting out of the military at FT. Lewis, I had a couple of job offers in the Seattle area but was tired of rain. So I am here where we have , humid heat, dust, forest fires, the daily small earthquakes, and either dry Winters or flooding type ones.
Steve,
I use the Round Up in undiluted form to try and get rid of those Star Thistles and I swear they just drink it and grow larger. If they think Cockroaches would survive a Neuclear attack, try these darn things. I swear they would thrive on the Moon or Mars.

I checked and the company said there was no problem with aluminum.
So, I put the 18" fan back on last night and it makes a difference. Wasn't able to take the car out as it was raining, but the barn was a fine 88 degrees inside and the car cycled the fan at about 2 minutes on and 2 minutes off.
Star thistle is controlled by 2D4D ( if you can spray it ). We kill a nice assortment of weeds, but need to watch that we don't "over-do" it. Weed-B-Gone is a very diluted 2D4D. You can get Weed-B-Gone in concentrate and up the percentage so it is more like 2D4D.
We use Round up for fence and surface clean up, like inside our red barn or on the cement.
Ron, can you spray 2D4D in your state?
And, Yes cockroaches can survive a neuclear attack.

Steve,
I don't know if we can get 2D4D here or not. I have never seen it and I have asked most of the places that sell weed and stump killer what they have and most have said just the undiluted Round Up was the best they have. The kind that is supposed to make 10 gallons just sprayed on in pure form. Doesn't work. It does kill everything else along the fence rows though including small Oak trees trying to grow from acrons. I need a small Neuclear device.
I have did more mowing and clean up this year than the past 5 years combined. This has passed ridiculous and is now absurb. I guess my next step is to see how much it would cost to have several dump truck loads of gravel hauled in and spread over that upper lot. I have managed to keep it out of the yards, but nothing that I have done will stop it up there.

Ron,
There is a product called "remedy". I will kill any and everything. It will kill the mightest of trees with a single spray. It will kill green briars like putting a torch on a ballon. Very fast and very effective product.
Around here it is a controlled product. Meaning you need a pest control lisence to get it. How ever if you go to a feed store and tell them you have a farm (we do have a farm) they will sell it to you. It is pricey at $100.00 a gallon. But it goes a long, long way.
We had a green briar outbreak here last year. The guy across the street hired chem lawn to kill his and paid $9,000.00 for the treatment. Then he had to replace the grass. I spent $100.00 and a few gallons of diesel fuel and did it myself.
You will need to spray this on a windless day or not at all. Dilute it with diesel fuel at a rate of 4 oz of Remedy to one gallon of diesel fuel, not water. The reason you use diesel instead of water is the fuel will take the waxy buildup off the plant and the Remedy will do it stuff. If the plant has no waxy covering it will clean the plants surface.
This really works but please be advised it will kill EVERYTHING in the yard. I had a stream willow tree that I really didn't care for. To see if this stuff really works I sprayed ONE LEAF on the tree. It died.
Talk to the guys at the feed store around there they are a wealth of information.

Steve,
These Star Thistles aren't in my yards and I don't care if everything in that upper lot dies. All it grows is weeds anyway. Now I have to find if there are any feed stores left. The last two we had here in this town closed up last year. As for price,a gallon of that undilutd Round Up is $100 dollars here. That is why I have been buying it in the small bottles. At least we still have diesel fuel for now.
Ron
Now the bad news. I just got home from the doctor and he expects me to make it until my next appontment in 6 months. However he did say I could pay in advance if I wanted to.

He only said that because you didn't pay this time!
2D4D kills thistle and just about everything else. But, I think you are not allowed to use in CA.

If it's in Weed Be Gone, it's useable here in the Republic since that's what I used. I was using it for pest weeds in the lawn though so I don't know how well it works on star thistles. I hear anhydrous (sp?) works good. They used to use it for gopher control here and you would see a line of dead foliage where the gopher holes were.

Tru,
I think you are correct on both accounts. My neighbor is a retired CALTRANS Engineer and he has access to their stuff. I am going to ask him about getting me some of the stuff they use to kill everything as it is state controlled and can't be sold on the market. I don't even know what they call it, but it sure works on poision oak and trees.
Actually my doctor just got back from a vacation. They took his son who just graduated from medical school to Italy for a couple of weeks. Dam, I am getting old. It just seems like a year or so ago that he was graduating high school. He is going to do his internship in Sacramento, so I hope that he gets to practice on the politicians so if he makes a mistake it won't hurt anything.

Maybe if he learns how to grow a brain back in someone after they become a politician he can get things back on track here in the state.

Brent,
Look at the bright side of things. If they want to start cloning intelligent people to have for the future, there won't be any politicians.

They better grow quick or it won't benefit you and I. Come to think of it, do we already have the clones with genetic defects in office already? I won't mention either senator by name, but I think people can figure it out.

hey Brent, now your pointing fingers. That is so not like you!
Come on and tell us what you really think. LOL. We have a mayor here that has her hand in everything. Talk about a clown. She could be in the circus, the ringleader.
95* and hot today.
Freddie,
Send some of that cold weather down here.

I would rather drive in 50* weather than 105* weather any day. Especially if it is sunny. Anyone want to trade weather for a few days?
