How is the weather out west today?
Windy and 35% chance rain tonight and tomorrow. That means it'l rain like a cow ..... on a flat rock! oh you know. If they had said 80% chance then we would get NONE at all. |
We had rain Sunday and it had cooled to double digits and 72% humidity.
In other words, a cold spell. Ron has actually had nice weather it sounds. |
hi, Flipper. I am a Creative Memories exclusive scrapbooker. (it is sold thru consultants- like avon, tupperware, mary kay, etc.)
so, my adhesive is called a 'tape runner'. I do occasionally put in non-CM stickers, like in my car book, but they don't get near my pictures. CM only has one sticker pack of car type stuff, so I'll go to a crafty store to get fun car stickers. If you want more info on Creative Memories, pm me..... (it gets boring to other folks) My car book is 99% digital pics from my little sony point and shoot. It works fine for that application, because most of the shots are up close and just of cars at shows, etc. My Canon Rebel (EOS- non digital SLR) is fine, but nearly 10 years old, and I'm just thinking about changing. yes, the canon D20 is my first choice of course. I'm thinking tho' something a little bit smaller than my current Canon. Of course my Canon is soooo heavy, because it's old, and I have a friend with a newer eos, and it's quite a bit lighter. I've also been looking at the what, Canon TI?? I think that's it's name..... non digital, tho', and just don't know how much longer print film will be around. I give it less than 5 years. I hate life changing decisions like this! I take the memory stick out of my baby sony and take it to walmart, or such, and print the prints there. when the memory stick is full, I then have them burn a cd. go home and check, then delete all the pics off the memory stick and start over. If I was doing my LIFE on digital, wow, tons of cd's...... It's a lot just limiting the digital to the car stuff. I have a hp printer, and I just put my sony memory stick in the side of it, and then it goes right to a folder automatically. Makes dealing with it very very easy. I just can't imagine the quantity I would have with all digital, no negatives, prints, etc. enough of that..... been to the mall. yuck. returned stuff to Hollister, Hallmark, (had lunch) returned to Old Navy, returned to Target, and finally home. the girls went along, and spent some report card money on those ugly dolls- BRATZ. they are supposed to be cleaning up the mess while playing. #1 son was still in his room when we left at 11. got home at 3, and he hasn't eaten breakfast, or lunch. I guess he'd just starve to death if i was gone for a couple of days. what to make for dinner. hmm. i hate to cook. No, I don't mind the cooking, I hate to clean up! make reservations.... ;) I know I know, dumb old joke.... have a great afternoon! Kristen www.creativememories.com (I'm guessing, not sure, tho') |
Hi all, just a short request for your thoughts and prayers. My father passed away this morning at 1110. He had been in the hospital, flat on his back, since last November. We consented to Hospice on Thursday and knew it would be just a matter of a few days. Thanks. Earl

You have our condolences and our prayers.

Our prayers are with you and your family as well.
I know first hand about loosing my father. It was very hard for me as well as he was by far my best friend. |
ah, Earl. so sorry for you and the loss of your father.
You have shared that he hasn't been doing well. I know it must be hard for you, and just know you have our thoughts and prayers. We love you! Post when you can.... XO Kristen |

Earl,
You are certainly in my thoughts and prayers. Take care my friend and all the best under the circumstances. Ron Brent, We haven't had a hint of rain and it did cool down to just 100 for two days. Has been 105 & up the last three days. Just stays that way and not worth mentioning until we finally see 99. Boy that will be a day for celebration. :D Kristen, Why don't you print your own pictures from the digital memory stick? I have taken some of mine from my CHEAP Olympus with just 4 MPX and stepped up the resolution for some that I wanted to be good, and so far no one has picked them out of the ones they had done at the store. A good printer helps a lot too. But I haven't used a flim camera for years now and have 4 of them. Ron :) |
well, there's a good reason I haven't, Ron
Basically, I'm not trusting of the inks and papers of home computers yet. A photo 'sent thru the chemicals' at a lab, (whether walmart, photo lab, or whatever) 'sets' the ink on the paper. I want my pics to last a long time. Setting the chemicals thru the processing procedure will ensure they last a long time. My understanding is that the printers/inks used at home will not set the ink, and over a few years, or maybe many years, the inks will fade. Now using Canon printers, ink, paper, or HP printers, ink, paper, (whatever your setup) will lenghten the print duration, but I just don't trust my printer/ink setup. (meaning all of the components match- I wouldn't put Canon ink in a HP printer, with cheap photo paper).
I do think the industry is working on this dilemma, as the archivists, photojournalists (scrapbookers) want long lasting photos. Current, regular photos will last at least 100 years in the albums I use for scrapbooking. The ones printed at home have a life span of around 71 years, if done on very new, cutting edge printers. My printer is good, but not that good. I do have several pictures in my album that I've done quickly at home; it will be interesting to see them compared to the lab ones in the future. I do not use the 'kiosk' labs at stores, either. Same thing. Instant printing on questionble inks, papers. Now I DO put my memory stick in the kiosk at walmart that goes straight to the computer in the lab, gets corrected, etc., but then gets RUN THRU THE CHEMICALS. It's a personal thing, but I'm of the old school that the chemicals really do set the image on the paper. Ok. enough of that. I think most of the people I know with digital cameras have started doing all their printing at home. Who knows?? I could be wrong, and the pictures will be just fine. I won't be around in 100 years, anyway, and my kids/grandkids will probably just throw away my albums, unless they stick them in a box in the garage.... (we all know extreme temperature changes are terrible on pics/ especially heat!!! don't store in attic, garage, basement!!) anything else to discuss??? girl's have a little rash on tummy. will take to dr. this morning. been there a few weeks.... not going away..... #1 son turned moody last night. Knew it was too good to last forever. Made him turn off machine, and locked the computer.... :( #2 son gets home this afternoon. After a weekend of party, I bet he's gonna crash and burn... oh boy, what fun. Gotta go to a school meeting tonight. boring..... my school project turned out very nicely. Will turn it in today. or tomorrow. gotta go! gotta clean up the house so the housekeeper can clean up the house..... :JEKYLHYDE |
Kristen,
I am not sure how long the prints will last, but the guarantee on mine is 75 years. I put them on CDs and DVDs also just in case so I can make a new print if I want. I have some 8 X 10s that I have had hanging in the garage for over 8 years and the only thig that has bothered them is the ones I didn't put in glass covered framers have faded from what I expect is heavy dosages of exhaust fumes. I just received an e-mail from the factory that the newest printer will make prints that will retain all color and such for 100+ years. I just don't want to hang around that long to make sure. I like my cheap camera because it is small and easy to carry. I have some very expensive Nikons and lens and hate to use them as I have to carry a ton of crap in camera bags and then have the film developed. For a film camera I used a small Pentax 99% of the time as I could carry it in my pocket. If I ever get another digital camera, it will be a small one also as I don't care about the long range lens and such any more. Anything above 200MM and I neeed the tripod so that is something else to lug around. Buy #1 Son his own computer. That will help. Hope the girls rashes aren't anything that will take long to get cleared up. If they were out here I would say they had heat rash. It is quite common around here right now. :) Ron  |
Gee...I wish I could write that much about...
|
Tru,
Take up scrapbooking. That would really give you something to write about. :D In the meantime you do have the weather. Ron  |
temp outside the window is 101*
|
Currently it is like 90 and about the saem in the humidity department. You can cut a square of air and sqeeze it for a glass of water.
Got a set of calipers finally. Got to rebuild them, but I'll manage. Hope to have brakes fixed by the weekend. Move on to the clutch, yuk. |
hey, tru, and your point is.......???? :p
Is it too wordy?? I've just learned, over the years, to explain succinctly and precisely. Sorry my explanations always take up sooo much space! Been to the grocery store. I hate shopping. I hate to cook. Oh yeah. we've covered that before. ;) don't mind cooking; hate to clean up! ;)  Glad you got your calipers. What all needs to be done to them, to rebuild them? (see, here's your chance to write about..... )  gotta go! k |
Tru,
Kristen can't get past the thought that she is still teaching kindergardners. And from my spelling, she well could be. After all, it takes talent to write a page about putting a lug nut on.  Ron :D Steve, We are having a cool day also. Just 103 now. If I felt a little better I would actually go wash the Comet. |
What's your favorite brand of tennis shoe? I have tried several brands when I played volleyball consistantly and really like New Balance for fit and comfort and broke my ankle because of a stupid desing in a pair of Asics. My wife hasn't found any New Balance that fit right and the Nike pair she boght had to be fixed in a few weeks after she started wearing them, though she does find them comfy.
|
You know Kristen don't get too big a ahead here but I wish you had been my kindergarden teacher. I really do. I will tell you why.
I would definantly be able to spell better. Of that I am sure. My hat is off to you for your patients with kids (me) and the teaching process as a whole. ZERO Humidity hered ry as an old soup can. But you can fry an egg on the front porch. Hey listen to this. This morning my wife takes our daughter to cheer camp and when she pulls out of the garage there is some clown parked in my front yard with his truck. He is doing the surveying for our streets for the county. I come real close to loosing my temper with that guy. To make a long story short I would be willing to bet he will remember the conversation for some time to come. My daughter told my wife that she is glad that I was here and she bet I could handle this nut. She said she was sure he would not do it again after I "spoke" with them. (she was right) I actually enjoyed the converstaion, it is the first time in a while I called a guy a dumba$$ to his face. Who do these people think they are anyway. |
