Earl,
You don't suffer so much in Death Valley because you go into it knowing it is going to be a miserable place. Wearing long sleeve shirts on nights that it got down into the 80s and days that never got over 120 in the Winter. A great place to visit and sight see, but not for volleyball.

I don't understand these people that want to hike across with only a gallon of water in the middle of summer.

For the most part they really don't know much about the desert and especially that area. Crap, I used to carry at least 5 gallons when driving out to go hiking and no way was I going to try and walk across the valley. I was to busy looking for Gold to worry about hiking long distances. I have seen lots of old cars setting beside the road over heating and blowing steam and the people never had a drop of water with them. Those old low pressure systems in the 40s and 50s cars just didn't do well in that type climate. Also remember, no Air conditioning in the cars. They got so hot inside people had to stop and get out to cool off.

HLC, sent ya a email. Let me know.
Ron, you certainly sound much more chipper than you have. Got new vitamins or something?????
You got to know it hot when park your car and it will not more when you try to leave later on...because the tires are glued to the black top. Yow!
Am I a bad employee when all I look forward to is payday???

tru, nothing wrong with looking forward to collecting your reward after a long
week - sounds like you may have been there for a while though!

If you do the work, why not look forward to the reward. If you take the attitude that you don't need to work but still look forward to payday, wait, that's the welfare system.

Tru,
I am feeling some what better today as it is just 103 and not so humid. Only problem is, every time I get outside I get a splitting head ache and I hardly ever have head aches. I called my doctor and he said it was most likely because I am still fully recovered from the heat strokes and for me to take it easy. But that is hard to do when for the first time in three weeks I feel like I may live through the day. Oh, well I can take solance that I have dissappointed a bunch of people by living. If the temperature keeps cooling down, and my head aches will stop, by next week I may be able to think about driving the car again. I went out in the garage and used the Calif. Car duster on it. No bugs at all so just dust from setting.
How is your Cobra coming? About got all the calipers and things ready now? August 6th is our annual Cobra Social. Wish you and some of the guys could make it. Right by the river, huge swimming pool and Greek Style baths and houses. Lots of great food and company. I didn't think I was going to be able to go this year, but if things keep on improving, I can make it that far.
Ron

Brent,
There will be pictures. Everyone takes a lot and normally Bill Emerson has a bunch posted on some site. I keep waiting for that special picture of when one of the guy's forgets to set the emergency brake and the car rolls over the bank and into the river.

Now you all are assuming again
I said the were closeout not cheap plastic shoes.
So happens they are leather and very well made shoes. I have put the first pair through the ringer and they look great, still support my feet and are comfortable. I have had them in water on the river and in mud up to my anlkes and on mytractor for weeks at a time working a job. I wash them off and they look great, even the leather still looks good. They look like they are still new actually.
Don't put words in my mouth, or anything else for that matter.

didn't say YOU had plastic shoes, Steve!! Sorry if it sounded implied, tho'. I was just saying I won't buy plastic tennies, they stink! I get the girls tennies at Target a lot. That way they can have tons of styles, and when they get whupped out, out they go.... flip flop heaven there, too.
Washed the car all nice. Haven't polished the chrome; another day. Went down the higwy a bit to pick up Peter. #1 son. He said, you didn't come here to pick me up in that, did you??? I said, yeah, unless you plan on walking! get in.....
so a nice 10 minute hiway drive. Very nice. a couple of sprinkles on the windshield, but dried pretty quickly. Gotta go. Having dinner out with friends, and of course now my hair is wild woman hair. #2 son said, 'mom, I don't know if you've ever described yourself as a wild woman before'. I said, not wild woman, wild woman HAIR!
more later....
g'nite, Earl. Hope tomorrow is better.
Ron. I hope you get to make it to the show next week. Really really try!

At what age should we start brain washing our kids
Wild woman..
Now let's hear the real stories.
A son that does not want to be picked up by his Mom in a Cobra. Kristen what's going on there in your house? Did I read that right?
Didn't you read 'Kit Car' bed time stories to him when he was younger...

Pam where are you...
4RE KLR
I have seen Steve a few times. He is a friend of a guy I know up in Queensland who is a builder.
Steve has constantly been extending the Wild Life Park up there. Ron has been working for him on and off.
He's pretty genuine and dedicated to the conservation of all animals. It's just his TV persona that some people don't like.
It's a multi million dollar business he runs with the Park and Television shows. No doubt anyone that does that will run up against a few people who don't like him or are not big fans of what he is doing..
I can say that he is just like the guy you see on television. Just don't go and meet him and expect to have a quite beer or talk. He cannot sit still!!!
The fact that he takes the time to email you is indicative of how nice a guy he is. ...my emails to Pamela Anderson have all gone un answered... ...not serious. Pam who...

What a scarry thing!!!!!!!
I was in the house and all of the sudden...everything went quiet.
I got up and started looking around. I couldn't see anything making noise. Then it dawned on me, the air conditioner had shut off.
I paniced and ran in the basement to check the circuit breakers. This is the firs time anything popper a circuit breaker. I was excited.
So I strt checking everything and when I'm at the stat, I see that the temp was below the setting.
It is actually cool outside.
Hey, pretty good huh? Almost as long as HLC's.

great post, tru. you're getting there..
great temp. outside, here, too. yea!! Of course the ironic thing is that the A/C guy is coming in the morning to change the filters in all the units. Better than him coming to FIX a broken unit, etc.
We had a nice dinner out. Kids 12 and under eat free, from certain menu. they HAVE to order from that menu, whether they like it or not! getting ready to go start a new book, and unfortunately, turning the computer over to #2 son....
so without further ado..... adieu, mon chere's....
