I never did like the wooden roller coasters. Then again, the metal ones usually aren't worth the wait in line either unless it is a short line.

Brent,
The wooden ones are more fun because you never know when thay are going to collapse. Although some of the metal ones that I have ridden didn't seem a whole lot stronger. At least I don't get sick and the guy that I was with last time I was on one was sick the rest of the day.
Mike,
If you can find stuff locally, that is best. But it seems to be getting harder and harder to find anything in this area. All of the good stuff has been picked over and is gone. I did see some kind of MOPAR setting out in a field the other day and I want to go back by there and see what it was. Probably some junky Hemi that the owner will pay me to haul away.

63 Fairlanes had a fin on the rear quarter panel; 64 Fairlanes had NO fin.
Thunderbolts were 2-door sedans, with posts around the doors.
I like the hardtop '64 Fairlane Sports Coupes the best.

Lil Mike
The rarest Fairlanes are the 63 1/2 Sprint Sport Coupes, just like the 63 1/2 Falcon Sprint Coupes very hard to find in any condition, other than the super rare Thunderbolts.
I only have a few favorite Fords , 30's-early 40's coupes, sedans, wagons, and 1/2 ton panel trucks, 46-48 Woodies, 54-56 big window 1/2 ton pu's, 56 Birds, 65-66 GT-350R's, and the 63 1/2 Falcon Sprint Coupe. But I've always been more of a Chevy guy
There is not a thing better than thrill you get when you are your age and it is "your" first car in the driveway, running or not.
Good luck and best wishes on your hunt , laddie

Brent,
If it is some junky Hemi, what would I do with an old barn. I have no room to put one.
Kristen,
Sorry about not knowing that LilCoBro was your baby brother. Now that I know his posts will be answered appropriately.
G.R.,
If that is your list of favorite Fords and you are a Chevy man, it would take a page to post your favorite Chevys I bet. My favorites are the ones that I see setting alngside the freeway waiting for a tow truck.

thanks, I feel better....
Gary, he doesn't live too terribly far from you.
hubby took my 2 hoodlums, and the 'english' 2 hoodlums fishing at 7. nice and quiet here, for awhile. We are mall shopping this morning.
I"m a little confused here. Mike wants a 631/2 fairlane, or such. Are the originals like cobra originals, out of sight, price wise? What are ya'll talking about with a replica? Original body, replica motor?? Please explain!
Kristen

Kristen,
The 1963/1964 Fairlane bodies aren't out of sight out here if you can find one. But for some reason they just never sold to well in this area and so there is a lack of them to locate. Original 1963/64 Fairlanes didn't come with the 427s in them and the fiberglass hood and all the other trick stuff to lighten the Thunderbolts. So any original body you get you would have to replicate the rest unless you have enough to buy one of the original Thunderbolts which are very rare and getting very expensive. I have seen one replica Thunderbolt with a 460 in it which just blew it as they never made 460s back then. The rest of the car was very nice. Ford only made 100 of the original Thunderbolts and they were sold or furnished to drag teams.

Kristen,
The going price of an original Thunderbolt is $110K and up depending on the option and shape. Some had automatics and some had 4 speeds. I looked at one two years ago that was in a carhaulerand some guy had just paid $185K for it as it had a race hiostory and was in great shape. If you are thinking abuot getting one for Lil Mike, forget him and geet one for me.
Mike,
Take a look at this link from Hemmings Motor News to give you an idea of what 1963/64 Fairlanes are running price wise. There are many other places too. I will look in my Fairlane Club of america magazine as one of the members had a 1964 listed for sale a month or so ago.
